The 2.0 motor on my 25 BSBL idles at 1500 RPM upon starting and does not kick down untill after about 5 min. It does this all day long and it is not even cold out. Is this normal ? Have not gone to the dealer yet want to see what I can find out on the forum first.

What was the outside Temp? Two and a Half minutes in the cold weather is about right IMO. But when it's warmed up it should drop back under 1,000 rpm.

I would say that's not right.I have the same engine in the 2025 XLT AWD Maverick I have now[no longer have a BS] I wait maybe a Minute or so and If it's still at a high idle I just put it in gear and take off. I don't think I've ever timed it to see how long it takes for the high idle to drop back.

Coming from a 2021 Badlands to a 2025 Badlands. This is 1 of my observations I posted about a week or so ago. I noticed it on my test drive.

I haven't paid attention to it after the BL warms up, as I start, shift and go.

This seems to be normal for the 2.0 L MPC engine from seeing these posts.

I guess it's just the nature of the beast, or we can expect a TSB or recall in the future.

That's what I have been doing. The tranny does not jerk when placed into gear at the 1500 RPM. I am too old to wait 2.5 minutes for warm up. Discovered I have a stop watch on my phone, how about that. These dang smart phones are way smarter than I.

So your motor actually idles down before you shift it into gear to take off ?

No it doesn't. Even if I shift into gear right away after start up, there is no abrupt jerking or banging from the tranny. Just going to keep doing what I'm doing.

I'm curious why the MPC has such a high idle though.

I was wondering if it’s possible one more consideration could be the condition of your battery because if it’s low idle may stay high to work the alternator, just a thought. I have those sometimes.
So I just googled my theory and some intelligent systems on modern automobiles will do just that

Thanks for the tip, checked battery and its at 14.7. Forum member,"Dude", said i could try disconnecting the neg. battery cable and wait for a period of time before reconnecting. Kind of afraid to do that at this point. Will contact dealer tomorrow.
