So our '21 Badlands needs new tires ordered now. OEM is the Falken WildPeak AT3/W 235/65-17. It's due for new tires soon anyway, but found a chunk of sharp metal on the highway that resulted in a non-repairable flat and now driving with the notorious mismatched spare.

I was already shopping anyway, but would like to get something ordered here today. The AT3/W on there seem to be good, but I'd like something similar in terms of overall ability and hopefully a bit better for winter conditions and maybe better longevity. Getting right at 50K miles out of the AT3/W and they're definitely past the point of ideal replacement. It seems most of the ones I'm considering are now heavier than the AT3/W, which is unfortunate. 3peak sowflake rating and all that -- lots of Colorado mountain driving here.

Current top 5 I'm considering, in no particular order, all 235/65-17:

OEM Falken Wildpeak AT3/W
Falken Wildpeak AT4/W
Yokohama Geolander G015 AT
Toyo OpenCountry A/T iii
Nokian Outpost NAT

Thoughts...?

It seems some others have recently posted about choosing one or the other of these. If any of you have them and have had them long enough to see winter or mountain conditions vs. the stock AT3/W, I'd love to know.

You may also want to consider the current OEM tire for the Sasquatch, the Goodyear Territory R/T:

The reviews don't reflect the BS, they're from three Toyota owners. I've been fairly satisfied with them so far.
Looks to be a couple pounds lighter than the Falken Wildpeak AT/3W. That's a+ in my book.

I'm considering that. Yes, will be using Discount Tire and their price on the AT3/Ws is really good at the moment. While I'd like something "better" I've been happy with these as the OEM and fully know what we're getting.

Yeah, looking at these now as well. Too many choices.

I love the sidewall design.

OK, so going with the Falken A/T4w's. They're replacing the 3w's and supposedly have improved tread lifespan and winter traction. We shall see. Overly good reviews on them everywhere I've looked. The Nokians seem to have the best winter performance, as that's what the brand is known for, but the Outpost nAT seems to be a bit bouncy and likes to fling rocks like KO2/KO3s and others with larger gaps in their tread lugs. Ford has been using the Goodyear Territory AT and as far as I can tell, they're just not as good as the AT3Ws all around. Spending more for the 4Ws but not too bad, Discount Tire is giving me $100 off (free installation) with them.

Keep us posted on how they work out for you.

I looked into the AT4's but for me were too heavy at 39lbs each.

Too many choices for sure. I also need to replace my factory tires on my '21 Badlands. I ordered 245/65/17 KO2s from Discount Tire the other day and get them installed next week.

Let us know how those work out, especially clearance and any rubbing you encounter.

Will do. I haven't heard anyone have rubbing issues with the 245s. I will update once they are on.

I'll let everyone know how the work out. This Bronco Sport has become my son's daily driver, but I still drive it off and on. He does a lot of the mountain driving and makes regular runs between Denver and Steamboat. Getting the A/T4w's installed tomorrow evening. My only reservation about them is the extra weight, but they have toughened them up a bit vs. the A/T3w and Falken claims the winter handling and tread life are better. We shall see. They seem to be a popular option amongst Tacoma and 4Runner people and those coming from the 3w's ae saying they're not seeing any noticeable change in mileage with the extra weight and they seem to perform as good or better. No one has had them long enough to truly judge tread lifespan and reviews on winter performance are also scarce.

I ran through two sets of KO2s on a Wrangler and I loved how they performed off-road. I didn't care for them on-road so much, especially as they wore down. And they were never great in winter conditions, as most AT tires are not. Better than some others, but honestly the A/T3w's have handled better in winter conditions than any other AT tire I've ever had and this was a big factor steering me toward the Falkens this time around. The Nokians were also attractive for this same reason and roughly the same price, but I just couldn't find enough info or real reviews about the Outpost nAT to convince me to give them a try.
