Starting at or about the 1K mark, I started hearing a soft clunking coming from seemingly behind and to the right side when decelerating to a stop. It was always at or below ~5mph, and sounded like something falling forward, as if it it were hinged at the bottom and pivoting forward when stopping. I didn't really hear it when accelerating but for a couple occasions.
I immediately went to over-diagnosis mode, thinking it was the right rear seatbelt reel lock. But, I figured I'd eliminate anything I've added first. I checked my IFAK in the cubby under the right rear passenger seat. Nope, it's actually compressed into a fixed position by the seat bottom.
Next, I looked at my tool roll in the spare tire compartment. Same result, well-held in place, no shifting whatsoever.
This went on for a few days. Confident it wasn't anything related to the running gear, I figured it was just an annoyance versus a concern, and I'd figure it out eventually.
Then just the other day when I was getting my stuff together to go to the MVD and straighten out my yet to be delivered registration and title (another story altogether), I was rooting around in the glovebox, and found the culprit. It was the stupid mini maglite we keep in there, and I had placed it in vertically in the compartment, head up, and the damn thing was just flopping back and forth on acceleration & deceleration.
Sigh...
