If you haven't totally committed yet, the Badlands is a huge step up from the BB and OBX. Do yourself a favor and give it a solid look.

👍For a couple thousand more I would definitely get a BL SAS vs the OB SAS.
When I was making my choice, I couldn't see a reason not to spring for the BL over the OBX from a "what it comes with from the factory" perspective. If I were looking at a street-only, more "luxe" ride, I would've definitely gone OBX non-Sasquatch.

Agreed!! I wasn't intending to off road with mine so I ordered the BS OBX and have been very happy with it!!

Looks really sharp in red. Can I ask what rack you have on it? Mine would have the crossbars already installed. Thx.

I'm not interested in hard core off roading. However, moderate off-road exploring and dealing with northern Ontario winters (Canada) are my prime motivators. Thx.

That's why I went with the BS OBX non-Sasq. So far, so good! (although sometimes I think about a BL non-Sasaq...)

My opinion....

I have a 2025 OB. Very Happy,

well, except for the things I've needed to add already.

- a real spare. I know it is irrational to want one. I have AAA. I am usually near civilization; the only place I've "off-roaded" is my dad's "ranch." Phones work there.

- a 2" hitch receptacle for my bike racks (let alone towing)

- the crosbars on top

- floor coverings - get the fitted ones.

- I tried seat covers, but sent them back. The original seats are better than the covers.

Additionally, I already had a dent taken out of the back hatch panel. I could not believe how thin those panels are. I added a nurf bar/step in the back and side door anti-ding modlings. They have already saved me more dent work. I may get fender flares.

At times, I wish I had the bigger motor, but the gas mileage is great on the OB.

At the time, the BL was $5000 or more, and that seemed significant. Now the difference is even more (per cars.com, about $7000 more). I would advise getting the most car that you can buy. There is 4.9% Ford financing. That would have helped. If you can wait a few months, things should get even better for the 2025 models. I have not spent anywhere near $5000 on extras (maybe $1000), but it would have been easier to just upgrade the model choice.

A compromise & an individual choice on what we want. Understand the economy perspective.
For sure! For performance and fun the BL SAS all the way. Cost of ownership and gas is being taken into consideration here. I was seriously looking at an entry level full-size Bronco, but at the end of the day couldn't justify the price of purchase (incl financing rate) and ownership, as much as I like the big Bronco. A higher trim level Sport fits the bill pretty well as a daily driver capable of some off road exploring. The 1.5L engine is not built for acceleration, top speed, torque etc, but it's a capable engine compared to what else is out there at its price point.

Who knows 10 years from now... maybe everything will be a hybrid gas / electric that performs well in the cold Canadian north.

Either way the BS is a lot of fun to drive. I found on my BS Big Ben the Sport mode accelerates quickly enough when I need some extra gas.

Anyway, cheers and thanks to all for your feedback. In Canada Ford is currently offering employee pricing, so it knocked off about CAD $4400 with 2.49% financing 72 mos. Compared to when I bought the BS Big Bend end of Covid financing was 5.49%. I couldn't find anything used for a decent price, so bought new. Used financing rates were 10%!

Thanks for your feedback. I had to double check that the BS OBX SAS had a 2 inch hitch. I use a 2" hitch bike rack all the time. You had me worried for a sec that it only had a 1.25" hitch!
