I have bad news, it only took him 2 minutes on the lift to see it won't work.

It's a different engine I guess the mating surfaces between the engine and trans are different like the 2.0 in ours is not the same engine block setup as the focus st 2.0 or the 2.3 in the focus RS. Also, the sub frames, the PTU, everything is different so he said nope. Well if you wanted to swap everything it might work but it would cost a lot and everything would be custom and that's not what I want so no manual transmission, sorry peoples.
Bummer. Sorry about that. It was a cool idea.

Yeah and that was the only reason why I was thinking about doing this was it seemed like it would be a mostly plug and Play deal. I'm not looking to do any crazy custom stuff and you know the more I think about it. I'm not sure what it worked out very well anyways with me towing and just going off road with the gear ratios that that transmission had it would have made it very difficult to do slow speed maneuvers unless I could get in there and change first gear to a much higher ratio.

So I'm just going to keep it how it is except I'll be adding the 360 camera I was looking at and upgrade to the automated air suspension controller at some point.

So I just changed my oil for myself the first time cuz I finally ran out of four points Aunt. I am pretty sure that on my 22 the oil pan faced the plug in the oil pan face the rear of the vehicle but I just did it on my 23 heritage limited and the oil plug faces the front of the vehicle. I wonder why they did that. I'm also wondering if that's changed. If some other stuff changes. I wonder if I still had my 22 bronco sport Badlands if I would have been able to do a manual transmission if that was part of the changes the chop saw I mean doesn't matter for me but I'm going to see if I can contact him and ask him if I can find pictures of my old 22 Badlands I also noticed that there's an o-ring on the oil pan plug and I thought my prior ones all had crush washer. So that's an interesting change. And also damn you dealer techs for putting those plugs on way too tight

If the BS is based on the Ford Escape, is there any Ford Escape with a manual transmission in the market? Overseas? Same year, platform?

Show off...
I would have gotten a manual in the Sport if available. Even my 2006 Escape that the Sport replaced had one. Not sure why I find it so enjoyable to drive a manual even after 50+ years. But I still do to this day.

Agreed. I have no issue with the BS automatic and rotary gear selector, but I really would have liked a manual particularly given this vehicle's “just right” size. The BS is agile, quick and fun to drive—a manual would have made it even better.

The only reason I don't have one is because my wife demanded I get an auto--just in case she ever has to drive my car. She can drive a manual, she's just lazy. The sad part is she never drives my car because I insist that she keep her feet off the seats and that she take her garbage with her when she gets out. Apparently that's just too much to ask...

My wife won’t drive the 2 door either. Says it’s because of the manual. She learned to drive with a 60’s Camaro with a stick and she’s driven some of my other cars as well so I know she can. Fortunately, she doesn’t like trash in the car either. Must be something else?

They are on a common platform (C2), which means that though there are many shared components and subassemblies, it’s not just different coachworks. Same for the Maverick. Different wheelbase, track widths, etc., so swapping major assemblies between any two is nowhere near as straightforward as some people think.

And for the love of god, slap anyone that says it’s a “rebadged” Escape. Rebadging is same car, different manufacturer with unique trim & interiors. Think Ford Crown Vic/Mercury Grand Marquis.

I got you, I've seen some 2010'ish Escape with a manual and automatic transmission, that's what I thought

At least with the Badlands it has paddle shifters so you can shift manually. Obviously not the same as having a stick but better than nothing.

So the escape never did but the European kuga did. But I believe that was only for front-wheel drive because none worked with all-wheel drive. Literally the focus RS is the only all-wheel drive manual that Ford made for those that I know of
