I’m at wits ended. I bought my vehicle brand new in 2021. Ever since I’ve had it, it’s made loud noises when I am in reverse and hitting my brakes. I mentioned this to the dealer where I bought the car, Galpin Ford, and service department told me the noise would go away after I drove it a few hundred miles. I drove it thousands of miles and the noise did not go away. There have been about four or five week calls on this car and each time I’ve taken it in, I tell them about the brake issue. They have admitted that they know about the issue, but there was no resolution. They advised me that when there was a resolution, I would be notified. No one has ever contacted me. Has anyone had this issue and had it resolved? I’ve been reading blogs and saw that one person said that they got new rotors and brake pads installed and that did the trick. But that was only one or two people. And I think they did that at their own expense. I read that Ford has said this is normal. But I don’t accept that. I don’t know of any other new car that squeals so loud that the driver is embarrassed. Sometimes I drive around the block rather than putting the vehicle in reverse because it’s so embarrassing. The noise is so unbelievably loud (think airhorn, amplified whales sing, squealing pigs) that I am at the point where I want to get rid of the car. The noise is so loud that I doubt anyone would want to buy it from me. I also don’t want to just pass the problem along.

If someone has had this problem and had it resolved, please let me know how it was remedied.

I’m contemplating on making a complaint with the FTC.

Thank you in advance!

Ford has 4 TSBs on the issue and all except for this latest TSB are obsolete:

TSB 24-2348 Moan Noise In The Rear Brakes When Vehicle Is Driven In Reverse

I had TSB 24-2348 completed 12/5/2024 and only one occurrence of the noise since that time which was due a high humidity very rainy day

There are several other ‘solutions’ owners have tried with success, this post #30 lists some of those:

Possibly the most promising solution listed in post #30 is for the Damond Motorsports, brass brake caliper bushings “that completely eliminate the caliper flex”

https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/24-2348-moan-noise-in-the-rear-brakes.12472/post-211777

You can also read through all 34 posts in that thread and search for brake moan and also search for 24-2348 if you wanted to get more opinions from owners

I recently had my '22 BSOB in for a state inspection at the dealership. While there, they performed the recommended service per TSB 24-2348. I had brought the BS back a number of times for the "whale moan" fix but to no avail. Guess what, TSB 24-2348 worked! Haven't heard the noise in the past two months. Go ahead, get it done.

Curious to know how much they charged you or if it was covered. I don’t think it’s right that they are charging people to fix a problem that they literally sold to us. I’m happy that your problem is resolved though.

There was no charge since, I assume, I had the vehicle in a number of times for the same problem. BTW, the vehicle is still under the original factory warranty.
