I have a 2024 Bronco Sport BB with 7000 miles on it. I've noticed recently, for a short time after initial start-up, that whenever I stop and the vehicle is idling, I hear what sounds like a cooling fan or the turbo winding up. It gets to a certain level and remains steady. As soon as I accelerate, I can hear it wind down. Next stop, same thing. I know this was discussed in another thread, but no answer was ever given, so I'm looking to see if someone has an answer.

It's the LED headlight fans, they kick in whenever the courtesy electrical system is still active or after ignition off delay. Normal operation

That was my original thought, but it shuts down when the engine is turned off and does not stay running when the power is off. When I stop at a light or to park, it will start to wind up; then, as soon as the engine turns off (autostart stop), it winds down and stops. The same thing happens when I park: it will start to wind up and then immediately wind down when the car is turned off.

Other than the LED fans, I would have no idea. Perhaps there is an issue with the fan relay that you might want to have checked out with the dealer

Sounds like your alternator is going out

also … another 1.5L owner found his water pump had a tiny leak … a spray of coolant that bounced off something and made its way into the alternator eventually destroying the alternator - 2 failures from 1 source

Newer cars use an electric fan to keep air flowing through the coolant heat exchanger (radiator) when the car stops moving. It's possible the fan may be malfunctioning.

Check my post at:
https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/bronco-2021-sport-badlands-loud-turbo-sound.6676/#post-116759

I included a sound recording in it - if it sounds similar, it could be (as Mark S also suggested) the radiator's cooling electric fan going bad.
My fan was replaced, and the noise disappeared.
Good luck :).

Yes, it sounds a lot like that. I'll stop at the dealer this week
