Dumb title but I'm not sure what to call it. I have an Android phone that automatically hooks up to my Bronco when I get it. For many many months, I've been getting random text messages alerts through the vehicle that are old old old. The occurrence has picked up quite a bit in the last week or two. One text message this week was from my son and it concerned me enough to call him to see if he'd just texted - which he hadn't. These messages in the vehicle do not show on my phone. Any ideas? Happen to anyone else? It's annoying! My husband just laughs and laughs when it happens and he's with me. "Just another little 2021 Bronco Sport thing" he says.

You say your Android phone automatically hooks up when you get in.

Do you have a wireless Android Auto adapter plugged in? Or are these messages coming through Bluetooth on the SYNC screen?

Also, tell us what Build of SYNC 3.4 do you currently have installed?

I have no idea what SYNC 3.4 I have or how I'd find out? I do not have an Android Auto adapter plugged in and yes, it hooks up automatically through the Bluetooth and the "ping" and screen alerts me that I have a new text message - allowing me to "hear it".

It’s easy and this is the most reliable way:

To find your Sync 3.4 Build Version (do not scan for updates):

Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab

It will show the Build Version (latest is 23188 Product)

Probably have to clear the cache on the Android, see these 2 links:

I have had the same thing happen many times! People send messages if my phone is not plugged into the vehicle and they have not sent them. I took photos of the texts to show my sons and they confirmed it - also was not on my phone texts. I now ignore them - I thought I was hacked

I have an iPhone and LOVE the text-as-you-drive feature

Had something similar happen with my Android and my truck. Old texts would pop up randomly like ghosts. I ended up switching my messaging app and it cleared most of it. Also tried a bulk sms service once for work messages — it kept everything clean and synced better, which made a big difference.
