Just had the same issue last month. I have been noticing that there symptoms of that issue were coming up well before the code caused my CEL to come on. I noticed stalling especially right after I fueled up the vehicle. Then It just seemed that I was not getting as much repsonsivness when accelerating. It wasn't anything big, but it just seemed a little less spunky than it had been before. In any case I just called the dealership to schedule the replacement part be ordered and installed. They asked if I wanted them to hook it up and read the diagnostics, and I told them no, just replace the part. So I left the CEL light on and didnt have them reset the it at the dealership to ensure that the new part fixed the issues. It took a week of driving and a fuel up event but the CEL eventually turned off. It was noticable after the part was repaced, that the spunkiness had returned, and I have not had any stalling since.

Purge valves are like any other component; they can be defective from the factory. Another known cause of failure is overfilling the tank during refueling. The purge valve’s purpose is to direct vapors trapped in the evaporative canister to the cylinders to be burned off. Some owners like to top off by continuing to pump after the handle clicks off. If the tank gets full enough fuel can back up into the filler pipe far enough to get into the vent system and down to the canister. Do this enough and you can inundate the charcoal in the canister and allow raw fuel in the line going to the purge valve. This will eventually destroy both the canister and purge valve. Moral of the story is stop pumping after the first click.
I honestly had no idea thank you for this

Did you replace the evap purge valve? Had same issue that would arise when adding fuel. Replaced the Evap purge valve but CEL still on. Based on your experience, it may take at least one cycle of driving car around and re-filling tank again before the CEL turns off. Thanks for sharing.

I did and it took me about a week or more of driving before the CEL went off. So just be patient. If you are driving regularly it still may take a few hundred miles. At least it did me. But the fix worked.

Quick follow up question: Did you have to replace Fuel Vapor Tube Assembly as well?

Very helpful! Thanks so much!
Most likely a different part number for the 1.5L in the OB model, vs the 2.0L in the BL.
