I was just driving my 2023 Outer banks (25k miles) at about 40 mph and the touch screen went completely black for the first time, it reset and came back on after about a minute. Should I be concerned about this being an electrical battery issue? Still on OEM battery, have not switched to AGM. I do have a Sync update that I still need to do, would that have any effect on this blackout? My initial assumption would be yes, so I will update sync later today and see if the blackout happens again.

Do the sync update from 22251 to 23188 unless you are already on 23188 (or latest) and if Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 (Certain 2018 - 2024 Model Year Various Vehicles: Update SYNC Software) applies to your vehicle then you need to contact a dealership because 24B47 is not an over the air update that you can do yourself. 24B47 can be done by a dealerships mobile service if that service is available in your area.

This should correct your black screen issue.

Thanks Dude, I am currently running the 22200 Sync version, and I will update to 23188 (just checked and it's available). I just checked Fordpass CSP but only have the missing floor mat program, so the 24B47 wouldn't apply, cheers!

You may have an APIM issue if you are sure you are on Sync 22200 as that version has not been reported to have issues.

However it is wise to be on 23188 or whatever is currently latest because that’s the first step a dealership might try.

Also I am not sure how you checked your current Sync version but this method is a reliable way:

To find your Sync 3.4 Build Version (do not scan for updates):
Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab
It will show the Build Version
