Total electrical power failure on my 2021 BB with 23700 miles. Everything died in the middle of traffic, not even emergency flashers worked. An off duty cop in his personal vehicle pulled up behind me and blocked traffic until a patrol car and tow truck got there is a steak dinner for him and his family waiting at Texas Roadhouse, awesome guy.. The local dealer said that ford was aware of the problem but there’s no real fix for it. Sounds like their go-to for everything bronco sport.

My understanding is that this recall is only updating software to detect low battery charge. I don't think it will prevent premature battery failure. I have been changing my Ford OEM batteries in my cars every 3 years. It doesn't look like that will be enough with my BS. Hopefully it gives us enough of a warning before the battery dies to get the battery changed.

Were you able to get the BS into neutral so it could be towed. I have a 24 and it no longer has a manual release to put the transmission into neutral. Per owners manual the battery needs to be jumped to get the BS into neutral.

The tow truck driver used the manual release and Loaded it just fine.

I’m just glad I was on a side road rather than the center lane on an interstate.

Ford deleted the manual release after the 22 model year. The owners manual only talks about jumping the battery to get into neutral.

And change alternator output to make sure the battery gets sufficient amperage to recharge while driving. I suspect the majority of owners experiencing the same issue didn't have faulty batteries, they simply weren't getting recharged by the car's charging system.

Thank you for clarifying

This exact thing happened to us.
What followed was interesting….

Got it towed, then a new battery, they said it had transmission issues and they didn’t have the staff at their dealership.
Then more issues, another dealership…. Alternator replaced. Also said may have some trans issues…. Go to your local place.
Then more issues, went to local dealership…. Torque converters replaced.
New appointment made now because all kinds of weird electrical things keep happening.

Get the extended premium care warranty!!! That’s my advice

Just curious, do you drive a lot of city driving with auto stop-start.

I really don’t do a lot of city driving. But isn’t that what the auto-stop start is for? Not being a smart a##, now I’m curious.

That happened to my wife when she was showing off the Badlands to her friends at work when going out for lunch, it was quite the impression. Driving on a major street the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and the vehicle died luckily she was able to coast into the center median out of traffic.

After trying to restart a number of times without sucess she thought maybe the key fob was too far away to be detected by the steering column as the fob was in her purse on the back seat. She got the fob from her purse and laid in the center console cubby and tried restarting again and was sucessful. That situation hasn't repeated itself but the Badlands has had various electrical issues and couldn't be trusted until the battery was replaced, since replacent it has not had any problems,, it's been almost 2 years.

Thanks for sharing, I hope it’s as simple as the battery.

I use the auto stop/start as an early warning of low battery. If it stops working (when all of the other conditions are met) you know your battery is low. Mine does fine on a 100 mile drive, but doesn't like the city drives so much.
