Hey everyone,

I know some here had asked for some pictures of the Inspired Overland RTT mounted on the BS so figured I’d give a glimpse into that along with what else I have in the rig. Everything here works for basic car camping and some light overlanding.

The RTT is mounted to the Thule cross bar kit bought direct from Ford. After receiving the tent, I could make the one style of mounting brackets work but ultimately decided to order the 3.5” mounts from IO for a better fit (the tent comes with two different style mounts but fitting up to 3”).

I took a pic to show the clearance of the lift gate with the tent installed. I did have to order a stubby antenna from Amazon but whatever.

As for the rest I’ll break down the set up; we’ve got:

- two Plano sportsman totes, the medium size I use for dry goods/pantry storage and the large one stores a few blankets including a 12v heated blanket, collapsible side table, MTRVR click style chair, etc.

- Hart modular stacking tool boxes…3 larger ones and then the small clear divided box. I have one box dedicated to general gear, one dedicated to power and fuel (extension cords, various charging cords, JetBoil isobutane, etc), and one for cooking supplies. The small clear divided container is good for stuff like trash bags, guy lines, carabiners, all that kind of stuff.

- other random stuff (Big Red Campfire, 5 lb Flame King propane growler, Moon Shade, folding table, ammo can with fat wood and fire starters, etc)

- for power we have the Bluetti AC180 which for the most part does a great job powering just about anything including the 12v Bodega fridge. Also have a 100w solar panel if need be.

Im sure there’s more I’m missing but this is the gist of it. If anyone has any questions feel free to fire away ?

ohhhh ive been looking at the bluetti 180. our jackery is just too small for what we need. i feel like portable power stations are the next big thing.

good setup 100%. you can probably get away with sliding it forward for more hatch clearance but i'll leave that up to you ?.

we legit lived ontop of our sport for almost 2 weeks with our RTT. i'm super happy you are making it happen too.

keep it up ??????

Those Power Stations are the easy button, but they are way overpriced. You can by a Lithium Ion 100 watt battery for around $250, a 100 watt solar panel for under $100, and a charge controller for around $30. Use Hopkins 2-Flat Trailer Electrical Connectors to plug it all together. I run everything on 12 volt, but if you really need 110v power, you can run an inverter. I used to do that but realized that you lose power to the inverter, and you can run everyting you really need on 12 volt. I run electric lights in my tents and have a 12 ft. pole with a campground light on top. I bought a little USB charging port for the iPhones.

Electric blankets? It's camping! Buy a sleeping bag.

Refrigerator? An ice chest works fine, and in really hot weather most 12 volt fridges won't cool enough. Unless your British and like warm beer.

In cold weather, I put a 5" foam pad on top of my cot, and it is more comfortable than my Sleep Number bed. I know I'm way too old to be climbing in and out of a rooftop tent.

In the summer I often don't bother with the tent, and just throw a mosqutio net over the frame on my cot.

Haha. Is that an official "half court" taped off in your driveway. Now that, sir, is awesome!

Thanks for the input ??

Awesome pictures thank you for sharing!
Curious, is that the standard size inspired overland tent or the XL?
