Was it deep sleep or did you get a message indicating you could not use remote start anymore? I was on a trip and remote started a few times. After a few, it won’t let you remote start anymore until you start it with the key or push start.

Thanks. It was just 24hrs and there was no messages indicating anything was wrong. I’m leaning towards the idea that is was the reception or lack there of with the network/servers…

Starting my 2021 Badlands using the Fordpass app has worked perfectly until about a month ago. Now I can hear some clicks under the hood when I try it, but the app eventually tells me that the "vehicle failed to start".

It doesn't seem to matter if it's a cold start or if I drive it and try to restart it using the app immediately after I shut the engine off.

Put your battery on a charger overnight then try again.

I think my BS is on this forum. Ever since I created this thread it has always started via the app w/o fail. Lol
All jokes aside, I’m thinking, for me, it’s the app failing to connect with the BS because of poor signal reception. I had it for exactly a month but I still went ahead and checked the battery. It’s in perfect working order. As for the clicks, I’m always hearing those. They’re weird and somewhat disconcerting but according to some threads on this forum, normal.

We did try charging it overnight, and it still won't start. The lock, unlock, and horn/lights buttons all function normally via the app, so I know it's not the app itself that isn't working. We are going to try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to see if that changes anything.

Update: Disconnecting the battery worked, at least for now. The battery was at 11.9 volts before we charged it, so we are thinking it'll go below 12 again when it sits in our 30 degree or lower garage. Perhaps that trips something in the car's computer to not allow the remote start to work but doesn't reset when the battery is charged? The only appointment I could get at the local dealer is the day after Christmas, so we'll see if they will replace the battery since it's still under warranty.

11.9 is a pretty strong indicator of a bad battery. A weak and/or weakening internal cell in the battery can make it seem functional--it'll take and briefly hold a charge. The way to be sure is to have it load tested. Note this test is different from a simple voltage test. Ask specifically for a load test.

Thank you for the info. I will make sure to ask them for a load test. Since the battery in the vehicle seems to cost close to $300, I want to get them to swap it under waranty before I hit the 3 year mark in April.

I know there’s a specific thread for this but it was left unresolved.
This is my situation.
My BS will sit for 24hrs+ and I’m unable to remote start it via the Ford Pass app but I can still remote start it via the key fob. Is it because the BS goes into some type of sleep mode which makes communicating with the app impossible? If so, why can it still communicate with the fob? It remote started flawlessly with the fob.
Had the BS for less than a month and I’ve seen no indications of a problem with the battery. No warnings. No lights etc… *I can use the remote start through the app normally throughout the day. No problems but let that BS get some shuteye and ?‍♀.
Hello there! Are you still experiencing this concern? If so, I would like to look into it on my end. Please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer.
