Id love to know if anybody else has this specific issue. If what is below is too long, the short story is that the passenger and both rear doors dont lock or unlock. No response from interior or key fob controls. Have you experienced this?
Long and detailed description, with a heavy peppering of emotional venting, of my frustrations so far:
Custom ordered my X Bronco Sport X back in September/October of '21 and took delivery on March 30th or April 1st of '22.
From shortly after delivery until almost exactly a year later, i would intermittently experience a locking issue where the passenger and both rear doors (driver and rear hatch are fine) would just not respond to unlock/lock commands from neither the fob nor the interior control pad. If the door was unlocked, it stayed unlocked. if the door was locked, it stayed locked. If i wanted to open a locked door, i had to physically reach for the inside handle and open it that way, and if i wanted to lock the door, i had to push the lock tab closed. Very irritating, as you can imagine. At this time, for the most part, the issue would resolve once the computer totally shut down and had a fully power cycle.
For about the first 6 months, the issue showed up roughly once a week - irritating but no big deal. From 6 months to April '23, the issue became more and more present, but any time it happened, it always seemed to be after the service department had closed - like some kind of teasingly cruel joke. From April of this year to now, the issue has been basically nonstop. One day, i was leaving the grocery and i noticed the issue was presenting itself. I looked at my clock, and saw that if i raced to the dealership, i could finally show them what was happening. I arrived about 5 minutes before closing, and they started looking in to it with much confusion.
Well, fast forward to today - the dealership has had my car at least 4 times in the last 8 weeks, having it in their possession for about a 1.5/2 weeks, all together. Here is the saga so far:
So, here we are, locks are still on the fritz. Its only been a couple of hours, so idk if the issue is presenting permanently or presenting intermittently like it was a year ago - either way, its a problem.
Has anyone experienced anything like this and, if so, how did you and your mechanics figure out how to fix it? Ask whatever questions you want, ill try to answer. I still have all the service briefs, so i can copy or post a picture of what those say if anyone is curious, through they are almost uselessly brief/generalized.
Thanks, and sorry for how long this was lol

Well, fast forward to today - the dealership has had my car at least 4 times in the last 8 weeks, having it in their possession for about a 1.5/2 weeks, all together. Here is the saga so far:
- The first hypothesis/first service was something about the door/lock/handle pins or something, so they took it in and changed those - problem still present after they dropped it off at my house - evidently they didn't actually check that the doors were working.
- Second time, they determined that the guy who put in these pins put them in backwards. They ordered the parts again, put them in again, dropped it off at my house again, and the problem was still present. Again. This time I catch the valet before he leaves, show him precisely what is wrong and show him how to demonstrate that the issue is still present to the mechanics. He takes the car back.
- A couple days later the lead mechanic calls me. To paraphrase, he says "what's wrong with the car? i looked at it this morning and the locks are fine." I tell him the same things that i showed the valet, step by step. i can basically hear the mechanics eyes falling out of his sockets. we hang up and he calls back about 30 minutes later in disbelief because im exactly right. The door locks arent functioning - surprise, surprise. He says he has to try to get in touch with engineering, they determine that its something with a wiring harness and something to do with the gas tank cover (yes that sounds ridiculous, I'm just repeating what they told me, and yes i hear him correctly because i repeated it back to him in disbelief). Anyway, locks finally work, i take the car home, great.
- One day later i come to realize that new issues have replaced the old one. Keyless entry (key in pocket, handle touch unlock) doesn't work, one touch up doesn't work on any of my windows (but one touch down does), and the key fob commands for all windows up/down (lock-lock-hold/unlock-unlock-hold) don't work. My wife also said that the original lock issue was back, but i went to verify myself and it was working fine, so i ultimately dismissed her report. So they take the car back, again, fix the issues, i get the car back another day later, and everything is hunky dory.
So, here we are, locks are still on the fritz. Its only been a couple of hours, so idk if the issue is presenting permanently or presenting intermittently like it was a year ago - either way, its a problem.
