2023 Order - Concerned about what my dealer is saying

On 11/21 My wife and I ordered a 2023 BS badlands.
We did a deposit and have a signed purchase and sales.

On 11/23 before the holiday the dealer (not ford) sent an email that says:
Thank you for choosing to order your next Ford with us - we're excited to help you through the journey! Naturally, you're probably thinking "what's next" at this point? I wanted to break down what you should be expecting from us from now until your vehicle is delivered.

Once all the initial paperwork is done you will be receiving and email from Ford saying "Your order has been confirmed". If you do not see this email within 24 hours of placing your order with us - LET US KNOW IMMEDIATELY!

After this, you'll likely not hear from us again for about 8 weeks while we wait for Ford to work on scheduling to get you a VIN and build date. Your next communication with us will be an update with a build week or date and a touch point every couple weeks to let you know of any updates as we get them.”


We went on vacation 11/24 - 11/30.

12/7 I returned to the dealer and they assured me it’s on order but no VIN # or Order# is provided, and no build confirmation. They said that could take weeks (?). I’m a bit confused now because that isn’t what the email said and the Ford 3.9% finance rate is for orders placed by 1/3/23.

We created an account on Ford.com with the same email and looked under reservations and orders and do not see anything. Its 12/9 and we have not received a message from ford that the order is confirmed.

How long does it take for Ford to acknowledge the orders and provide a order summary?

Well I ordered my 2022 BS BL January 2022, we didn't get a VIN until the end of March with the car being built on 29 May. We took delivery on 6 July, although the car arrived to the dealer on 28 June.

We built the car online and they printed out the build before it was transmitted. So I have a build sheet per say with MSRP pricing breakdown. Then they hand wrote our agreed price. They also did a separate P&S with my deposit.
But all of this was generated prior to transmitting the order. So I don’t have anything with an order # or dealer sales code.
Here is an order sheet or DORA so we're on the same page. The red circled area is what Ford asks for. Your order code starts with a letter then is followed by a 3 digit number. After I signed this it was submitted and Ford emailed me that my order was received. Some haven't gotten emails so that isn't necessarily a tell all, but when you call Ford with your order code, it should be received. My advice would be to definitely ask your dealer for this updated paper with your order code, then call Ford and confirm it's received. This paper also lists the price at order so when it (most likely) increases, you have the price protection. Hopefully the dealer is cooperative and stand up because that really stinks you're dealing with this.

Called this morning and they do have the order on file. They didn't really know why the order doesn't show via: Ford.com > Login > My Account > Reservations & Orders
She said I might want to just check back with the dealer on the spelling of the email but we did that already it looks correct. I did give her my email and she said she added it so maybe that will help with email notifications. She said once the VIN is available we should be able to see it under
"Check Order Status" too.

Just an FYI - I've read that many folks who have ordered have never received an email (I am one of them) from Ford, after receiving an order # from their dealer.
I placed my order on 8/19, for a Heritage Limited and since I never received an email from Ford confirming my order, I called Ford CS and they confirmed my order and order # and that it was clear to be scheduled to be built and that my email that the dealer had submitted was correct and on file with my order.
Why did I not get an email from Ford confirming my order ? no one seems to know
That is exactly what has happened to me. I mean exactly.

I have tried to add mine to reservations and orders, and can't do it. In one of my chats with ford, apparently that's not possible. I can't recall the reason, but it made sense to me at the time. Like because i don't already own a ford and didn't order through the website and ordered through a dealer or something. I'm not worried about that at this time, since my dealer knows who I am and I'm able to track my order. Just an FYI

I think "reservations and orders" is for folks who actually order an allocation through Ford.com and then have to select a dealer at some point later. That is how my friends full size Bronco was handled since he did the $100 thing direct with Ford; I don't think you could do anything with a dealer yet at the time. He waited 24 months to actually pick it up from his $100 deposit with Ford.

I think the "track your order" option is for orders done at a dealership or with a VIN; it doesn't even work until you have an actual VIN number.

They certainly do not make this all crystal clear...
I'm just happy Ford has the order on file. I am expecting a long wait but was worried the dealer was holding things up. Even the dealer email says to contact them immediately if you don't get a email from Ford confirming the order within 24 hours. That is what started all my confusion...

Now that I know things are fine we will just sit and wait for a VIN and estimated build date like everyone else, and hope the costs of the vehicle don't go up!

I ordered mine through a Ford Dealership and I really don't remember how long it took to get the first email but it definitely wasn't more than a two weeks.
You should have an order # and can call Ford to check the status with the order #.
I know it was about 4-6 weeks before I got the VIN....
I ordered in June and didn't take delivery until November.
I don't know you'll make 1/3 TBH but FMC maybe be flexible since you ordered during the promo....I would give them a call to see how long they'll honor the rate if you're approved right now. Maybe they have a system in place for this kinda thing. I think I'd demand a refund and go to a Ford Dealership if that's an option...If you have a relationship with your dealer and you trust them I'd wait it out could be delayed since it's not a Ford Dealership.

Bron_coco it’s all set now. Spoke with them today. And we will qualify for the promo 3.9% rate based on our location and order date. Here is the info from ford website for our zip code .
