It was another deleted gizmo. An albecurrie drive system. But I think that is where they would have put the activation rocker for that.

Climate control console soundsProbably a shared component with another vehicle. Alot cheaper to just fill in unneeded spots than to manufacture a dash for each vehicle (maybe dash isnt appropriate term?)
They're not switches in the sense you think it is a "switch". It's a button that creates an electrical path to a control component and tells it to do something. Like, the heated steering wheel button doesn't close the heating circuit coils from the battery. Pressing it sends a signal to a control module that just patiently sits there waiting for signals and when it gets alerted, it either closes some other relay/solid state transistor that turns on the voltage to the warming coils. Could you install a new faceplate from Ford Parts with the one extra button, install a 3rd party microcontroller and rewire the harness so that one button goes to the extra controller? Yeah, probably. Definitely not worth the effort required.Ok then the next question can we order a switch to fit that spot and use it for lights or whatever?
You wouldn't necessarily need a microcontroller; you could do the same thing with a couple of relays (circuit diagram here). I agree, it's certainly much more of a hassle than simply installing an ON-OFF switch, but it might be a fun project for someone who likes to tinker.Could you install a new faceplate from Ford Parts with the one extra button, install a 3rd party microcontroller and rewire the harness so that one button goes to the extra controller? Yes But of all the gin joints in all the world isnt there a simple on off switch from anything else (Ford, Lincoln hell even Mercury, just use it again Sam) that would also fit that location that could be repurposed? What ever picture is on it can be covered over. And yes my humorous references are for just a select few. I am as resouceful as Johnny Cash in a Cadillac plant. We need a Ford parts guy/gal that can look it up somehow. They're not switches in the sense you think it is a "switch". FWIW, I agree having a dead/blank button on a top end car is frustrating. Ford could seriously use the expertise of a few designers to rethink many of the interior control schemes. Many things on Bronco Sport and across many Ford models could be improved with better button placement, function and inclusion. e.g why is my barely used front camera equipped with a 3" long button while the control screen lacks a hard "Home" button? Is Ford the only car manufacturer that uses left-right buttons for radio volume UP and DOWN!? I think so. Nonintuitive. Should be arranged differently or even better, on a toggle. Same with blower fan; two tiny buttons. One small dial would be better by miles.
Mine is yours twin and I have no idea what it's for... I just now actually noticed it. I just thought it was a gap to the right of the heated seats button... ??I have a 22 Badlands with what I believe has all available options. Looking today, I noticed a "blank" button to the right of the drivers side seat heater button. Does anybody know what option this "blank" button would be for?
Just curious...
I have Canadian loaded 21 BL With the same blank button. The heated windshield cowl area is activated by the rear defroster if my memory is correct. No, Mine is blank too, I have OB ( Canada ) all options 360+ and its blank, opposite side is heated steering wheel
