Is the tension adjustable such that it is not nigh impossible to shut the hood? Asking for an owner of Redline Racing struts ...

No, they are not adjustable, but the very struts were designed individually for this geometry of the hood and its weight. We have added the video to the gallery showing the opening: Product gallery

I think the concern is closing. Without the struts you can simply drop the hood from 8-10 inches and it will close. With the struts, you have to push down on the hood as it's closing, which introduces the possibility of putting a dent in the hood.

For those of you with struts, you can minimize the possibility of denting your hood by keeping the palm of your hand flat and centered on the part of the hood where the sheet metal is bent, where it's strongest and least likely to dent. See video below.

I worry more about service people being overly aggressive. My dad had a van with "dealer installed dents" that he went round and round with the dealer on for at least a year before giving up and trading the vehicle for another brand.

That too. I do almost all of my own service work, so that's less of a concern for me. If you're really concerned about it make sure to mention your car has struts to the service rep when you check your car in. Tell them that closing the hood by pushing down on top will cause dents (they should already know this). Make sure you show them prior to releasing the car to their car that your hood is not dented. Take a photo.
