Even jeeps running the 4.0 v6 engine were not making this much power until about 2006. There’s no power issues with the 1.5. I haven’t noticed any issues with the bigger tires and gearing. I’ve taken this sport up steeper hills that my tundra couldn’t make it up in 4wd. My police unit, a Dodge Ram, also has a v8 and 4wd and can’t go up hills like this. The tires give me better confidence with not bottoming out or destroying the sidewall. I mean I’m not gonna rock crawl the thing. For reference, They are an inch taller than the stock badlands tire and 1.5” taller than stock base tire. My mpg ha barely been affected, my speedometer is barely affected.
I believe those Toyo's are only 29.5" and the stock Badlands Falken Wildpeaks are 29.1". My Maxxis 235/65r17 are 29.3" so not as much difference as you think.

I may be wrong, but I thought going from 225 to 235 (or even 245) gave you a wider tread base. To get a taller tire you would have to go from 65 to 70 (or75) or a larger wheel. I’m quite happy with my 17 inch wheels.

My Badlands will have the standard 225/65R17 tires.

I will be putting 235/65R17 Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2 winter tires on it at some point. They don’t come in 225.

According to the tire size calculator the 235s will be a little taller and impact speed by about 1mph.

The 1.5 is pushing more Hp and torque than most the competition running 4 cylinder engines. Even look at older off-road vehicles like Toyota’s using the 22re. That engine doesn’t even tough the power
Yeah, people are really underestimating the 1.5L. I get it, is has 3 cylinders and it sounds small....but it is mighty, it just goes.

So, you only put on the big 245 tires, no lift and no rubbing and decent gas mileage? And you got about 1.5 inches higher, that would give a base/big bend something like 9 inch clearance. Is that right, that sounds like a pretty good deal.
