Dealer told me today that for the first time ever, vehicles are being driven individually to dealerships from the rail yard. Truck transport must be a pretty big issue.
Do they mean someone is literally driving a customer’s new vehicle to the dealership?

That could put numerous miles on the car. Not to mention the potential for abuse or damage.

I would expect a discount at the very least.

I would be unhappy.

So does that mean they gonna go drive yours the 10 miles to get it to the dealer?

It will definitely add 10 miles to the odometer. I don’t think they would do that if they were long distance. I should have around 37 miles on it if they drive it because I had 27 on it when the FordPass was disconnected.

I see.

I wonder why they are adding so many miles at the factory?

I’m pretty sure that mine was because the battery was dying from sitting on Chip hold. My FordPass app was activated and told me I had a weak battery. I watched them on the app driving it all around outside the factory the day before they added the chip and shipped it.

I'd be straight up pissed. The rail yard here is 3 hours from my dealership in Phoenix. The route is an extremely busy state highway where accidents can definitely happen. I'd be going to get it myself.

I think it’s because they use a live test track instead of simulated

That’s what he and I are both hoping. They don’t control that, so they’re waiting like I am.
They probably have to go through some exception authorization process to bypass having it trucked to the dealer.

Three hours I would imagine they will truck that one to the dealer.

Nogales is already a fair distance from the plant. It should be on a rail car already because that’s how it gets to Nogales. It was put on a rail car in Hermosillo. Have you asked FordChat or your dealership to look for your rail car number on the visibility report?

I called ford today and the guy gave me a rail car number. Haven’t had a chance to call the different numbers yet. Did your have 4 letter and like 5-6 numbers?

I might call on occasion, it’s been a difficult breakup after the relationship we built during the month of August.
