Me? Definitely not…I don’t see any messages..
“ I looove this. Please make it 2” and off-road it to see what you can break! ❤

In other words. Can we see some stress testing under real word conditions. Quite a few people have been burned and this would help alleviate some reservations. I know it would for myself.

Well, not burned by us…

As far as testing to break something, it’s a 22 Bronco Sport with 3,000 miles on it. Definitely not going out to abuse it. We’re also on the east coast, best we have is woods. No trail running is going to put these through anything significant.

These shocks use the same hard components as the suspension we ran in Baja on a joint venture with Volkswagen. They’ve already been run at full speed over the harshest terrains for a duration of 1000 miles without failure.

VW even made a commercial about it.

…and we have customers that engage in lunacy on our behalf. Plenty of pictures and reels on Instagram. @flatoutsuspensioninc

We are first and foremost a rally suspension company. Going fast and crazy offroad is our bedrock.

…but trying to break our Bronco, we’re not going to do that. It’s a soft road/ overland build, not a rock crawling abuse rig.

Thank you for clarifying. Correct. I did not mean to insinuate burned by your company at all. Just by bad experiences with other companies. I thought it was routine for product development to stress test components and see what would cause failure. I’m sure there’s a method for everyone’s product development, I just can’t imagine that stress testing isn’t part of it. Especially from a suspension company. *shrugs* oh well. I’m sure that’s not a big deal for most folks in the market. I personally have never purchased a performance product that wasn’t vigorously stress tested to the point of failure.

Well, again, we do know the limits. We know launching at 65 mph off a sand dune trying to catch the next dune bends an upright shock on a nose dive landing that surprisingly didn’t deploy airbags. We know that hitting a tree stump at 70mph on our inverted shock rips the suspension arm off the chassis. We know the lateral stress limits of our upright and inverted shocks. Again, we build rally cars. We build our shocks to survive the rigors of rally. We don’t crash test our stuff. I think you’re looking for us to do some sort of test Top Gear did when they dropped a Toyota Hilux during a building demolition. We do cycle tests, we do lateral stress tests, we do extreme hot/ cold tests. Beyond purposefully destroying our Bronco, what are you looking for?

I don’t think a single Bronco Sport owner is going to Offroad their car to a point of breaking something. You’re going to destroy a control arm before you damage one of our shocks.

Do you find yourself consistently tearing off your control arms?

They do testing and have a lot of experience with their products in the field. Have they done specific testing on the BS, no. Is that necessary given that everything that goes into a spring/shock for the BS is used on other vehicles in different combinations, no. If you want testing, other than basic fit/function, on the BS, good luck finding it.

That’s a very very different world. I’d expect your experience should go to internal shock components and shock dynos, quizzing me on low speed valving, high speed valving, damper matching, preference to linear vs digressive, unsprung weights, etc.

I think you’ll appreciate this..

Following... can't wait to see it and hear of any issues on install or off-road test.

A review is posted!! (copied from our website)

"You can tell that flatout suspension takes pride in what they do. The main shocks have a beautiful nickel plating, and then anodized parts where applicable. The springs are a nice grabber blue color. To the fun stuff…hands down night and day difference over a factory badlands suspension. The first trail ride we took it on it ate up every bump, large rocks, the road would throw at us. Cornering was perfect and smooth. Not to mention, I have a a spare tire carrier as well as a roof top tent; the suggested rear overload spring sits nice and level with all of our gear in/on the vehicle. 10/10 job flatout, I would buy again!"
