Hey there, new member, first post. I have an outer banks on order, with the tech package and moonroof. Same boat as everyone else…build date 7/4, now in “produced” status, etc.

The fun plot twist is that I work for the Ford dealership I ordered from. I even called our zone rep the other day and was told he would send a status request…then I checked yesterday morning and magically the dreaded chip hold message appeared.
Welcome to the July 4th build week waiting room! Glad we have someone here with a vested interest in getting a car from that build week delivered, plus a bit of an “in” since you work for the dealership. Who knows, you may have even set the ball rolling that led to us all getting that extra bit of info about the chips. If that’s the case, we appreciate it!

I got some good news and some bad news:
Good News: I received an email from Ford today
Bad News: It was to let me know my fordpass connect was no longer active.

I'm glad someone has a sense of humor. Lol.

Several Forum members have Big Broncos on order along with the Bronco Sport, such as yourself. Info for all.

After 4 weeks of "oh it is produced and no issues, should be there 7-13 August." I just heard that it was chip delayed today, and a minimum of 6 more weeks. This is not how responsible businesses operate. I was told initially I'd have my rig by 4th of July weekend to do my planned camping trip. That was a lie. Then "first week of August" LIE. Then 7-13 August. LIE. Now the second camping trip has been scheduled and I'm unable to go on that as well.

Had I known delays were this bad I'd have gone with another manufacturer. Ford knew this and strung me along. This is BS.

Additionally, In northern Maine snow will reasonably be flying in 6 weeks, and definitely in the mountains of New Hampshire by then. I have to do extended drives for work, and my current vehicle is not an acceptable option for winter road trips through snow. I'm going to have to rent a car for weeks at a time due to this.

Plus nobody wants to buy a convertible in winter. I have gotten screwed by Ford on this .

Thanks for the welcome! Don’t know if I got any balls rolling but if I come across any inside info, I’ll be sure to share.

Another order was showing produced with a chip hold yesterday and this morning it changed to release with a chip hold ? Not sure if that’s good or bad.

Just out of pure curiosity, I’d love to know specifically what chip is holding you up. I know it doesn’t change anything, but it would be interesting to find out. A ford rep I spoke to said this delay is likely due to the fact a chip factory in Japan burned down.

I honestly don’t know, it doesn’t show exactly what chip is missing. But my GM did say he “made a call” and is waiting on a call back, so maybe they can tell him? I harass him daily about this thing. I’m sure they’ll be just as happy as me when it arrives just because I’ll finally leave them alone!

It is definitely frustrating having to wait, but if I were in your situation I might just have to tell Ford to shove it. I mean you reasonably NEED the car before the winter. It looks less and less likely that this will happen. Down here Jeeps are readily available and will do what the BS will do as far as drivability, just not as nice fit and finish-wise. I just have the luxury of time and am willing to wait. Maybe your dealer can get you a loaner for a few weeks, but I seriously doubt it although it doesn't hurt to ask.

Wasn't trying to criticize, just wanted to make sure people were aware it wasn't about the sport.

Man, I am sorry. I am in the same boat but I have a working vehicle so I can wait but I am extremely annoyed at how they have handled this. Horrible customer service! Did they tell you it was a minimum of 6 weeks before they get the chips or for you to get it?

Your order is being manufactured at one of our factories. This can take a few days. When you have a moment, tryout the link to your Window Sticker that is now available lower on the page.

Ford should change this to, "This can take a few days to a few months. When you have a moment you should try and track down one of our dealer reps, and or plant managers. They'll be able to give you more of the runaround and keep you off our backs for longer. Then you might also try to obscurely track your vehicle through other avenues and then maybe also try to decode your cryptic window sticker for more clues. It'll be a fun time!"

They didn’t say if it was 6 weeks till they get it finished or 6 weeks till they get the chips.
I’m swinging by the jeep dealership this weekend.

When I asked my dealer yesterday about the chip hold, she told me it could take up to 5 months as they have seen at their dealership for the chip to get installed. Of course I went into panic mode. I had sold my Jeep last month bc I couldn’t beat the offer. Thought that going one month with using my husband’s truck to share wouldn’t be bad. Ugh. Very difficult. I woke this morning and did a search for an on the lot, within an hour drive Bronco Sport. I wasn’t picky about model, color or options. I’ve read on the Forums of other people doing this. We just picked up a Big Bend for MSRP? yes Shocking! It’s my interim vehicle while I sweat out the months until my ordered Badlands comes home. I know I won’t lose much if anything based on buy back prices for BS. I also know this is not an option for everyone but dealing with one vehicle and a 28 yo handicapped son, it was necessary. I want to give a shout out to Independence Ford in Bloomsbury, PA! MSRP. Took care of us knowing full well why we were there.

That still makes no sense that they would build vehicles after ours with the same specs. And not finish ours first. I don’t get it at all!
