None of it makes sense! Would your ford pass do like its doing if it was waiting on a chip? Would it show the modules live if it was missing a chip? I think they're telling everyone that the chip is missing just to have something to tell...I could be wrong but it just doesn't add up! But nothing does
yes, no doubt that is a possibility. when there is no good reason..."chip hold".

that means the people in the factory or Ford office are holding a chip and a beer with a bowl of salsa.

I am added to the chip hold. No known resolve date. Called my dealer first. The last updated report they had was from 7/4 nothing since then. I called Ford and while they told me my ETA remains same, I have a chip hold!!! My ETA is this week. I asked if he had a wand to get my vehicle here that fast. I also asked for corporate phone numbers. He told me to go to media.ford.com, make an account and I may find numbers there. I asked him to call Mexico. Of course, we know he can't but thought I would try. I am writing, calling and getting all out there for Ford corporate somehow.
Now, to shop Jeeps.

Just called the number @Hooligan88 gave me, I got the same answer. Missing a chip. Apparently one of the plants in Japan where they get the chips from burned down.

I asked about a timeline, said it likely won't be a year or anything crazy like that, could even be as short as a few weeks. However, they said I likely will not be getting the car by my original ETA date of August 9-15th. Asked about what chip is missing, they said the dealer may have that info, since some other customers had gotten that specific piece of info from their dealerships. I'm going to call, maybe we could all try to do that?

Apparently the team behind the number I called gets updates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the person I spoke to said the best bet would be to call back next Monday. Will definitely be calling back on Monday and report back with any updates!

Just got word back from dealer, copy of my visibility report, Chip Hold. No further details available to them right now but will look into it. The saga continues - at least we get to weather this pain together.

I do know that they will use “zombie” chips to make sure things are working. They use the chip on the vehicle and then take it out and use it on the next vehicle. That could could explain why my FordPass goes up and down.

Wow. That is way more information then Ebony gave me. She didn’t sound too interested in talking to me. My dealer didn’t have any more info for me either so I hope you get more! Thank you for checking too.

The question would be what do we all have in common on our builds.

moonroof
360 Assist+
Tech package (which you had to get with the moonroof)

I looked back at this a bit a couple of weeks ago - it does seem maybe it's the 360 Assist+? That's the only add on that I have.

Never really thought anything of it since I thought I saw some that came through after ours had it!?!

That being said, is it any wonder there are so many recalls, especially the ones that have had to do with parts that are in good working condition but installed incorrectly (oil issue from earlier this year)?

Call customer service back again and this time ask for a case number. Call the corporate offices and was transferred to the escalation department and they wanted the case number name and phone number. Hopefully these guys will at least be able to tell if the truth if the truth is really out there. They said they would call back by the end of next business day. I did say this wasn't just for me but for several of us in the same boat receiving different information.

This is interesting info...but seems like a pretty definitive event...feel like it could have been chip hold over a month ago if a building making the chips didn't exist... Clearly the vehicles were knowingly set aside. It's all just still odd to me - not that it matters.

What I don’t understand is how many of us called and were told that we were produced and there was nothing holding up the shipment of the vehicles other than waiting on shipping to be arranged. They knew the minute we came off production line we were missing chips. Why the lie?

just called, told me the same thing as everyone...chip hold.

so they hold the car for a month before they decided to tell everyone. or, they have other issues they don't want to say. chip hold has been a common response people has heard before so they can could it....whatever it is, this is NOT GOOD.

I supposed I can just wait it out. I only wish they give all the facts. if it is really indefinite, they just lost a sale or two. I'm ok if they tell me a time frame that is even a year or two at the start. as long as the schedule is holding. plus and minus sometime is understandable. but, I'd say this is really BS. pun intended.

gonna put an order in for a 4Runner and see which one comes first.
Some very similar builds at dealerships less than 100 miles away from me when I expand my search radius. That might be an option. Some are waiting for delivery, some are already there.

Mine does not have the 360+ assist so I don’t see a commonality.

BS listed as in production July 4, still in production. 1154/1166 units. My dealer is telling me its built but still in Mexico. Just wondering who else is in the same run? My order is nothing fancy, Big Bend with Convenience package, Tow package. My modules are live apparently, I don't know how you would tell if one was missing? or if a chip was on hold, doesn't make any sense to me.
