As my brother was coming over to help me put on the Body side molding, I decided that in addition to washing the BS I’d ceramic coat as much as I could before he got here. Didn’t do wheels or roof but my new wheels go on in a day or two anyway, then it’s off to the mountains this weekend, for the meteor shower and some more serious off-roading.

Just in case someone think that a detail spray is the same as a ceramic coat, I just want to say that it isn’t. These coatings are good but they aren’t the same thing. The Turtle Wax stuff is surprisingly good and it will last 6 months or so. It’s also very easy to apply. However a true ceramic coating is good for at least 2 years but requires a fair bit more effort.

Overall, if you are willing/able to wipe the car down with the Turtle Wax stuff after every wash, or every other, you are probably going to be very happy with the results.

A week ago Friday, I had Twilight ceramic coated and a front end PPF applied, so today I gave her a nice hand wash and dry (of course, it is now raining, so that was a nice exercise - but I don't ever complain about rain). I also installed my rear quarter window vinyl decals (finished just as it started to sprinkle...):

I got the decals from Diamond Vinyl Decals on Etsy - watched their video and it was pretty straightforward.

Are you putting on the OEM body side molding? I would love to hear your thoughts on it when you're done - I've been thinking about it just to help prevent people in my parking lot at work from putting a bunch of dings in. I know on my CR-V that saved my doors.

What is nice is that even though it rained on the clean car, it will still look a lot better than it did. I’ve always been happy with how much better the car looks after a wash/rain than it does after a dirty car/rain.

Now that’s a good add! What type of strapping did you use? I’ve wanted to carry an extinguisher for some time, but never had a place to put one.
Question why is that back seat mot look right . Am I going crazy in my old age ? Gray with tan leathers? What is going on here .

No, look closely at the pics. I found a 50' roll on Amazon. It's about 1/2" high and 9/16 thick, and black. I put it just below where the factory molding goes. It's much cheaper and I wasn't real happy about how the Factory Ford molding looked. I even put a strip across the back, below the window. For me it's about trying to minimize pinstriping, when I'm on the trail and some door ding protection, in the parking lot.

Well it is definitely a subtle add, I didn't even notice it until you told me to look again! :D Looks like it should do the job!
