Congratulations!! I've got the same on order minus the moonroof and plus a tow hitch, so we'll be twinning soon, gray roof and all. Enjoy your new ride. That color is sure to bring a ton of compliments.

Grey roof on the Velocity Blue really is the *chef's kiss* touch to the blue.

Been doing some shopping... only found one dealer within 50 miles of my home in San Antonio that did not mark up vehicles over MSRP. I texted them yesterday about two Badlands showing on Ford's web site as "just arrived" on their lot. Sales rep texted me that both were reserved with deposits. He called me a few hours later advising that on one of them, the buyer BACKED OUT, asking if I was interested. The salesman's wife works in the the dealer's office and IMMEDIATELY told him of the "back out" before notifying the sales manager, so he called me immediately due to my inquiry just a few hours earlier. Was I Interested? HELL YES! Badlands with Premium package, sun roof, 235/65 Wildpeaks, Velocity Blue (not my preferred color but nice looking) and noting else added. I IMMEDIATELY gave him a deposit over the phone, and picked up the "BBB" (Blue Baby Bronco) this evening. I had been shopping for one at the older base price, but all of those were at dealers with $5,000 markups! This one's MSRP was $41,865, and that's all I paid! (trade-in plus cash) I only had to haggle a little to get my trade-in value up to that of a quote from Car Max. ASK ME IF I AM HAPPY?
That $41,865 MSRP price tag is the MSRP and the Market Adjustment combined, not unless your BS is fully loaded with the way the base MSRP is! Every BS that's manufactured is marked-up before leaving the factory, "hence, the base price," as you can see how the "Base MSRP" has been going up over time, and every BS on a dealerships lot has a market adjustment added to it, and there's very little negotiation when it comes to the market adjustment! I called Ford Motors and was told that they try to oversee that dealerships don't raise the price excessively high, in which is a bunch of BS if you ask me because they're not doing a good enough job in that department

That $41,865 is the marked-uped "Base MSRP" and the "Market Adjustment" combined, including options. I called Ford and was told that they try to oversee and make sure that dealerships don't excessively raise the prices of their vehicles to sell to the public, in which I personally think is a bunch of BS if you ask me, just by looking at the market adjustment it self, and that the dealerships have the "discretion" to raise prices on their vehicles, and that includes custom factory orders, as well! Now, does that make any sense, people? It does to me because the dealerships and Ford Motors are one in the same! It's all about profit, and you can see that with the "incomplete builds" that they're selling and shipping out all across the country! Keep in mind everyone, this is capitalism at work!

I don't know what your point is, but if you go to the Ford website and build-and-price a Badlands with Premium package and the A/T tires in blue with grey roof/sun roof, the MSRP given by the site for my zip code is $42,065 . Yeah that's a lot of dough and it seems like things are getting doughier each month. Oscar Meyer bologna is now the price of 2019 deli roast beef. That's not a Ford issue.

You're right, but Ford has been marking up the BS over these past 2 years and that's why you, and everyone else, is paying over $40,000. You got a great deal to not have the market adjustment placed on your BS. In my zip code, the market adjustment is over $5,000, with little to no room for negotiations. Good for you!!!

I get it. You're stuck in Hawaii. Inflated prices shouldn't be a new surprise to you. I've heard how much some things cost while living the island life. Ford doesn't put market adjustments on vehicles. Dealers do. If you don't want to pay it, then go to another dealer or wait out the interim. But I doubt prices are ever going back down to where they were.

I had to do that same dance earlier this year on a different vehicle. Went 400 miles and saved $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the dealership within 50 miles of me that all added markups. A lot of people seem to be flush with cash right now and just pay whatever. If the ADM cars didn't sell, dealers wouldn't add markups. MSRP prices are increasing because everything is. A Bronco Sport is priced about 5% more than it was two years ago. That's less % than the bologna hovering around 30% more. I used the Bronco as a grocery getter today... but came home without bologna or cheese. Sucks.

I understand that, but what I'm trying to say is that Ford has been raising (marking-up) the price of there vehicles over the past 2 years. A few months ago, wasn't the base MSRP lower? Wasn't the MSRP with options lower? That's what I'm talking about! I know the dealerships are the ones adding the market adjustment to there inventory and custom factory orders. The raise in the base price, and a few added options, has taken your purchase price above 40k's, and that's without the added market adjustment. And that's why I stated that you got a great price for yours! Imagine if the dealership added the market adjustment! Not so many people are as fortunate to get that kind of deal, unless you go to Granger Ford in Iowa! I would have gotten a BS Badlands at MSRP here for a few hundred over 39k's without the added market adjustment. The dealership was willing to lock in the price, but it wasn't what I wanted. What I really wanted to do was to order one, and the dealerships here weren't accepting orders, as I was told from all these dealerships here because they want you to go down to the dealership(s) to play games with you. Most dealerships, and there "sales goons," really think that everyone is ignorant to there practices.

Prices aren't set in amber. I'm actually surprised Ford didn't take a bigger bite, but they judged the price increase to be within what the market can bear and what buyers are willing to pay. Or, maybe the are trying to adjust demand in line with what they expect they can produce with supply the way it is. The adjustment looked like it could drive more interest into the non-Badlands trims.

Correct! I was just trying to keep it simple, but you're exactly right about that!

That’s a win, showing up to the dealership with cash in hand certainly helps too.
I paid in cash. Ther dealer had to call Ford to get a code to open the computer to accept cash. Their comp. is geared to finance a minimum of 2 years.

"Marking up" implies profiteering, i.e. charging more simply because people are willing to pay more. I submit a big part of the increase in Ford's MSRP is inflation. The 2021 inflation rate was 7%; 2022 is over 8%.

Increases over MSRP are markups. That's your dealer, not Ford.

Way to go! I grabbed an Area 51 even though my first choice was Cyber Orange. MSRP too.
