Can anyone tell me the length of the Yakima Ford HD Crossbar Kit -VM1PZ-7855100-A

Trying to install the Yakima Lift assist Kayak carrier and it needs at least a 3.5" overhang of the bars. The Thule WingBar EVO 135 bars (53") I have are too short. I need to make sure the Yakima HD's are longer than the Thule 53"

Thanks for your time!

The Yakima Jetstream bars with the Timberline Tower setup are 60" long; Yakima only sells 50", 60" and 70" in these bars. Yakima recommends the 60" bars for the BS; For what I carry, these were too long so I went with the 50". Note: Rack Attack (a Yakima Dealer) would not install the 50" bars for me because they deviated from what the OEM "recommends". BTW: If you have the Moon Roof... These are high enough to clear just fine. Hope this helps.

InspectorAdam, this are the Yakima 60 inches, could compare with the 50's above, from LazyDirtFarmer.

Do you have any other, closer, photos of these 60’’ bars? I’m ordering Thule but I can’t decide between 53 or 60in.

You may find you want/need to mount or attach to the outside of the bar mount on occasion, in which case the 60" bar will offer more room for that. The 50" Yakima I know is not recommended -- not sure why not, but it just fits without much length to spare. I went with 60". I thought I wouldn't like the overhang, but got used to it.

Those are indeed 60”, and the front bar has about 5.5” of overhang, a bit more on the rears. Will slightly vary depending on placement but shouldn’t get much shorter than this.

The other nice thing about the Ford Part Number version of this as opposed to buying from a different vendor is it comes with the Timberline Towers, JetStream CrossBars, and 4 of their interchangeable lock cores. Those 4 cores are usually about $60 to add on after the fact. Combine that with the often 20% off prices from Ford or online parts dealers and it can be a great deal.
