Just confirmed a brand new escape with adaptive cruise makes the same noise. Electric booster = whoosh noise.

My guess is there is a device of some sort attached to the brake pedal to simulate the "feel" of a vacuum-powered brake booster, since that's what everyone is used to.

Not one Bronco Sport or full size on the lot had adaptive cruise - wonder if those parts are on back order or something.
The weird thing with electric brakes, the pedal doesn't stiffen up after pressing the brakes with the vehicle off. I don't know too much about electric boosters.
