I just offered him $41K (order was for $40,500), so with the loss of the 1,000 rebate I'm paying $1,500 more than originally intended. His manager said no. I said that's the best I can do. He said he'll try to keep asking. We shall see...
Hey it was worth a shot. They may call you back tomorrow and say they will take it, you never know. If you do talk to them again make sure they understand that the way you see it, you are offering $1500 over what your order will cost. Shame it isn’t close to the end of the month when they are pushing everything out the door they possibly can.

And if it doesn’t happen? So what, you still have one locked in.

Stick to your guns. He’ll have to call you when your order comes in and also honor the rebate for a special order. Ford received my order on December 5. It came off the transport on April 6 and has been in my driveway since then. Definitely worth the wait and why should you pay more for what you already have on order?
Agreed. The sales guy is gonna call you tomorrow, OP.

Unfortunately, the dealers are somewhat in the drivers seat these days. Same for houses. If you can wait, I would but if you need it now, then it’s the highest bidder.

I kind of gone thru the same thing. I came across a dealer (different from I order from) had a car almost the same as I ordered (missing CMS). but they wanted $8k over. after some discussion...it was down to $4k. but i said no......so $4k to start with maybe they will do $2k or a little less.

it is very hard these days. you have to be a good negotiator and lucky at the same time. the demand is there and the supply is not. especially for Badlands. so I wait...... and that's cus I have looked at alternatives which I'm not sure which car....and with a reasonable price.

just now I'm eyeing an Outback Wilderness. for lease price, it will be less even the MSRP is the similar. considered even the Passport...maybe not....I test drove a CX50...maybe not, and good luck find a reasonable price.......even consider a Defender....that's double the price..and there is no inventory anyway. so I'm back where I started.

but I didn't sell my convertible :) still got my roadster . probably will never sell....i'm in California, I should have one for those coastal cruising days....... or carving mtn roads. BS BL does not do a good job but it's not bad.

Honestly, if you can get the dealer down $1k I’d consider it. I’ve been waiting since 11/1 for my loaded badlands. As of now it’s scheduled to be built 5/2. I might get it in my hands by early June.

Just comes down to how many months you wanna wait. If it were me and I had found the exact model I just ordered back in November I would do it for $3k over. But to each their own, do what feels right for you.

When did Ford receive your order? I ordered on Nov 26 at the dealer. Ford received the order Dec 5. My Badlands was built Mar 9 and came off the transport Apr 6.

I wish it had gone like that. Received order confirmation from Ford 11/2.

If my dealer is correct, you’re waiting on the tow package. It’s the one thing I thought about, but didn’t order.

I ordered a Badlands last month (with all the things) after selling my convertible. I'm okay with waiting a few months, but more worried they will start eliminating certain features on new models like they are now doing with the nav system on the Big Bronco. My local dealer said they are also going to remove the heated steeering wheel and seats on the big Bronco.

I really want these features for the BS, as my last car was missing some of these "essential" options. I know it's hard to predict what whey will do with the ongoing chip saga, but it's making me nervous. I really don't want to wait more than 4-5 months either, but it seems like the average is running around 4 from what I've read. I'm okay with that as long as it has everything I want when I finally get it. I'm also okay with taking it without everything as long as those features can be retrofitted later. GM says they will retrofit them, but I haven't seen anything from Ford.

My local dealership is getting a Badlands (in transit) exactly like the one I ordered last month (even the same color), but it's $4K more than my order. I have to say I' tempted. I'm trying to keep from making a mistake, but I'm not sure what the bigger mistake is - losing out on features and waiting 4 (or more) months to get what I want (maybe) versus spending $4k more for the exact same car.

I don't think it's the best decision to spend an extra $4K to get what I want with less wait, so I could use encouragement from those of you who ordered and felt it was worth the wait. I called Ford to ask about my worries of key features being removed and FWIW, the representative said they wouldn't have accepted the order if they weren't able to fulfill it with the options I selected. Not sure how much value to place in that reassurance. I think I will feel better when I get a build date, but who knows when that will be.
If I'm not mistaken, if you have a window sticker, it's locked into that configuration. The VIN is sacred with the setup of the components. It's one of the reasons you can't change an order after a VIN is created. Granted in the chip shortage era I'm sure nothing is 100%. The sport is a really nice vehicle, absolutely love mine but I wouldn't pay $4k over to pad some dealer.

This is incorrect. Right now the VIN is created roughly 2 months before the build week. It can still be changed until the window sticker is created which happens about 2 weeks before the build day.

Just wait! You'll be very happy you did because waiting saved you $4,000. We live in a society where people want things, now!! But if you'll be patient and not impulsive about things, you'll make better choices and rational decisions that can help you in the long run. Try to think things through carefully because these purchases aren't cheap!

Correct some things like color and some options can be changed if done weeks before actual build day.
