Just a little off topic, but I need some answers. My wife's '20 Ford EcoSport has just developed an exhaust leak. I took it to a local muffler shop (Cole), and they told me one of the components is a dealer only part. I took it to my dealer and got a $1200 estimate to replace the exhaust system. They told me the system comes as a one-piece system. There is only a gasket or something that is separate and warrantied. Does this sound right? Do our Bronco Sports have the same type of set up?

I disagree wth your shops assessment. I've modified my exhaust a couple of times. I changed the entire configuration from the catalytic convertor outlet to the exhaust tips. From what I observed; from the exhaust manifold to the CC is modifiable but then you get into warranty and emission issue's so best not to touch that section. Sounds like you are out of warranty so that's not an issue. Emissions are easy as long as the sensors are intact. Everything else you can do as you wish without any warranty or emmission problems. It would be nice to know what exactly the problem is. Did something crack, a leaking gasket maybe. There's not much that can go wrong, if its a bad CC it can be removed and replaced as a induvidual piece, same with the resonator. You might check with wrecking yards and replace what ever piece it is with a used part. $1200 is unnessesary unless you are a new Ford parts only guy.

Not knowing what part of your exhaust systen is leaking, it could be covered by the federal emissions warranty of 8 years 80,000 miles. Might be worth checking into.

Thanks for the replies, guys! Dealer said only 1 part was warrantied. Have to chalk it up to Syracuse winters and road salt.

Oh yes, forgot about the dreaded road salt and magnesium chloride. Being from Washington State I know all about that. None of that in Florida, just hurricanes and palm sap.
