Many posts on this forum are about identifying the source of noises inside or outside the vehicle (engine compartment, etc.)
Your hearing ability might not be as good as it was in your early years
Try using listening devices such as the product depicted in the attached pic
Many of these kinds of devices allow you to enhance certain frequency ranges which might help in noise determination but not sure how practical that might be
I had these in the Transparency listening mode today (that capability varies for other brands and products) and I could identify a high pitch sound coming from the motor in a home air filter. Won’t be much longer before that breaks down.
