They’ve been around a while. I noticed them first when I got my Bronco last May.

Oooh, color me intrigued. Also wondering if any decent 3rd party offerings tap into the OEM courtesy wiring/controls in the same way, since it’s there. I love tasteful lighting options, exterior and interior….

These are only triggered (in OEM install configuration) to illuminate when unlocking the doors. As supplemental lighting to get into the vehicle.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense. That is probably too infrequent a use case for many people and for 3rd party providers. I’m still intrigued but may be in that same boat of considering it on and off….

I will say, after having the puddle lamps on my fusion, I miss not having side illumination when unlocking the vehicle. This is something I heavily consider still adding just for that purpose.

Found the installation instructions, and it looks like you’re drilling to feed the harness that taps into a module at pin 17…. So not a simple plug into an open connector.

Viewing the instructions....I think I'd Bronco up and just pay the $140 installation fee. Of course one would have to have trust in their local Ford service department before doing so. The instructions would come in handy for double checking their work....lol

totally agreed. i can do DIY mods but i'm no mechanic, so if i was to do this one, i'd also have the professionals take care of it...

Just arrived. Opened the box. Broken in half. So, that’s not a good start.
