I picked up my BS BL on Thursday and when I started it Friday it said something on the screen like, "Turn on the Engine to Charge Battery"

I turned it on and we drove up the canyon to hang out and came back without a problem (28.8mpg!).

When I got home and parked her in the garage that night I went out a few hours later and could hear a humming noise coming from under the hood. I popped the latch and lifted the hood and there was so much heat under there that the hood prop was almost too hot to hold on to.

I isolated the humming to the headlights and when I disconnected the quick-connect, it stopped, so I figure it's the headlight fans on both sides.

I left the hood propped to let it cool down better and it was fine on Saturday morning.

After a few quick errands on Saturday evening, I got home about 8:00pm and the fans were still running about 10:30pm. I checked again at 11:30pm and they had stopped so I didn't think any more of it.

Well, when I went to get in today, the battery was deader than dead. I had to jump it and drive it down to the dealership where I left the keys in the drop box and we drove the truck home.

I'm guessing it's a module, solenoid, switch, or something like that which isn't turning the fans off and they just run until the battery dies.

Obviously I'm not real pleased with a two-day-old car being in the shop already.

I hope the diagnosis is quick and the parts are available ??

On older vehicles i would switch out all the headlights with LED.. i found that the led with a cooling fan, the fan would get super hot.. led dont get that hot anyway so why a fan... i started using led with no cooling fan. No problems.. ya our headlights are noisy little buggers

Its considered normal for head light fans to run for 15 or so minutes after vehicle shut off. Also head light fans will start running again after you open close door when vehicle is parked.

I dont think its normal for hood prop to be hot to the touch.

Hopefully the dealer can find and resolve the issue.

Ok that sounds like a bad switch causing the fans to keep running. They are supposed to dry any moisture and cool the headlamps....sounds like the opposite is happening. Should be an easy warranty fix.

UPDATE: The dealer had my BS for several days and after recharging the battery on a trickle charger overnight could never get the headlight fans to stay on. They've turned off ever since I got it back too.

My best guess is that draining the battery may have forced a reset of something and fixed the problem.

When I first took delivery, I had the issue for three straight days, so it wasn't intermittent, but I haven't had it since.

I'm hoping it's fixed, but will let you know if it comes back.

Shame on you Ford~~
Those head light fans should not start up when we open our doors. Only when the lights are hot.
And you should have given us more control to turn things permanently OFF.
Like auto stop/start,
And Lane keeping assist,
Also the tire pressure monitoring system should have been accurate enough to use as a tire pressure monitoring system ! Duh !

I have had a similar problem with my headlamp fans. Leaving in garage overnight and next morning fans still running. I tried turning the vehicle on and off as someone mentioned but that did not work. I have contacted ford and the ford dealership and have not had a answer of yet. My truck is three weeks old and the fan never stopped until last night after turning the truck off I manually switched the headlamp switch to off. This morning the fans were not running. According to the manual this is not needed. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I love my bronco, have taken it on road trips from Massachusetts to Vermont and Maine and enjoy every second of the three hour plus road trips.
