Maybe we can get a Master Thread where people can post pics and experiences with different brand trunk tents. We sleep in the back, but looking for a living room space for this summer.

I've been looking at this one, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096SZH7PH/?coliid=I1S0TYZ3C2KCKR&colid=3QKJH8M1Y46V6&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1 or maybe the aluminum frame version. I saw a pretty good review, but everything on Youtube I take with a... few... grains of salt.
Maybe it’s just me but I don’t see the advantage of that over a plain old tent. Maybe add a rack mounted canopy, but even then, I don’t see much advantage over a standard pop up canopy. Just throw the two and a couple of chairs in a roof basket and off you go.

The ones like this, or that wrap around the back of your SUV allow you to use the car for sleeping, and have more covered and protected room outside the vehicle.

The negative for many of these is that they aren't stand alone and need to be attached to the vehicle so not great if you're camping and using that spot as you base while driving off to do whatever during the day. Some will stand on their own so you can drive out and just attach it again at night.
