Tire comparison and recommendation

I'm 80 years old and I'm getting tired of changing my summer and winter tires over twice a year. I'm looking at getting either Michelin Crossclimate2 or Goodyear Assurance Weatheready 2 tires and running them all year round. Does anyone have any experience with either of these brands. In comparison (price, tread depth, tread pattern, warranty), they are just about identical. Both are well known brands. Just looking for a good reason to go for one or the other.

I'm running the Michelin CrossClimate SUV in 235/65-17 on my 22. I don't really go off road with them and have about 25k on them now. The one time I had them in the snow they were good. They've been fine in the rain we get here in North Texas (way better than the factory Continentals). Since they are directional you can only rotate them front to rear, rear to front. The one negative I have is they seem to be wearing fairly quickly. I don't think they will come close to reaching the stated wear mileage. Cheers!

At 67, I too wasn't about to f@rt around changing tires/wheels from summer/winter. I do a fair amount of camping though, mostly as far into the boonies I can get so "all season" tires wasn't an option for me. I went with MT Baja Boss tires.

Not sure if you get into any "soup" (muddy/snowy) seasons but for what it's worth, I hear a lot of good about Yokohama Geolander ATs for average driving conditions.

ha-ha, I'm 57 and I am getting tired of that also. I haven't tried them, but I will give you another tire to look at just to confuse you more. I went with the Cooper Discoverer road and trail AT's and having gone through 3 snow storms going to work and back I am totally impressed so far. these are winter 3 peek snowflake rated also.

@Stircrazy the COOPER tires look very interesting. The tread pattern looks like a cross between the BF Goodrich KO2 AT and the TOYO Open Country AT radials.

Are the Coopers loud or are they pretty quiet?

they are quieter than the energy conserving summer tires I had on from the dealer, I was very pleasantly surprised.

the one difference is I was getting 34.5mpg (US) 41.5mpg (CDN) with those energy conserving summer tires, with the coopers I am getting 31,78mpg (US) 38.2(CDN) so a little bit of loss but not that bad and still better than it is supposed to get. I did just get the stock 18" rim size as I have a outer banks that came with the 18" rims.

sure you can, the coopers look better I use to have AT TA's on everything I owned, now I wouldn't spend the money on them. they were a great tire if not the best for the weekend off roader in the 90's. now not so much

Need pic or it didn’t happen. Any time I have deviated from BF Goodrich atko I have regretted it. The tread depth is superior and they last longer, look better.

I'll take some and post it. I initially switched from the all terrain ta's on my f350 as they weren't lasting, and it was going to be 2800 bucks to replace them. I decided to try the terramax at's from sailun and have never gone back. I get an average fo 20K more miles out of the sailun, better traction in snow and mud, they still have the winter 3 peak snowflake where BFG had dropped that certification, did they bring it back? and the sailun tires were a little bit better for load caring and ran a lot quieter on the highway. for my bronco sport I considered them but they didn't make the stock size for the 18" wheel and the cooper did. I am impressed with the coopers they are quieter than the summer tires I had on.

I might have considered the Terramax R/T if they made them in our size
