According to 4WheelParts.com the Badlands has only .2" of tire clearance at full lock and full articulation with the 235/65/17 Falken Wildpeaks but at 3/4 lock has about 1". They also note that a lift will most likely increase clearance and that a different offset wheel may help as well. That implies to me that the 245/65/17 that many are using is probably the max at full lock and articulation, with the stock wheels and no lift. https://www.4wheelparts.com/the-dirt/test-drive-2021-ford-bronco-sport-outer-banks-vs-badlands/

I’ve been running 245s for a week. Made a few full lock turns and no rubbing. Haven’t taken it off road yet.
Which tires do you have? KO2’s are a bit squarer than some, so those may rub a bit.

So a 245/70/17 will only fit with a 1 inch lift on the Badlands is that correct? I wonder if a 245/70/16 requires a 1 inch lift?

I am unaware of anyone fitting 245/70/17 without a lift and a trim for additional clearance to avoid rubbing at full lock. Maybe it's possible with a narrow tread with and the right offset wheels but you would probably still need a lift even on a Badlands.

A 245/70/16 in theory will have the same tread width and diameter(29.5") as a 245/65/17 and should fit on an un-lifted Badlands. In the case of Cooper AT3 4S the 16's actually have a 7.6" tread width vs 7.9" for the 17's. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.jsp?tireMake=Cooper&tireModel=Discoverer+AT3+4S

I've got my eyes on the 235/75/16's with a diameter of 29.7" and tread width of 7" plus some 16x7 +40 wheels. https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Bronco+Sport&autoYear=2021&autoModClar=Badlands&initialPartNumber=MR14367001740B&i1_Qty=4&wheelMake=MOTEGI+RACING&wheelModel=MR143+CS6&wheelFinish=Black+Painted&wheelFinish=Black+Painted&showRear=no&packageFlow=false

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus. I would say they are a bit square, but probably not as square as a KO2. The sidewalls and tread edges look like they are squarer than the 235 Falkens.
