I had no idea that such a tool existed. Now that I know, I'm sure I'll find a use I need one. Thanks.
Speaking of "tools" what's everyone (installing themselves) using for drill bits? I bought a few Cobalt (I had an idea I was going to burn them up) I managed to get the driver's side done (after several trips to the hardware store) which took me the better part of the day just to drill 2 of the 6 1/4" holes in the pinch-weld. Has anyone used carbide tipped (or full carbide) bits for this with any success? Thanks!

Could you further explain why the brackets are an issue? I am considering this skid plate for my 22 Big Bend. Thought you could service the oil and filter without removing the entire plate.:frown:
I'll answer this.

On the Rival Kit, these "nuts" they supply go up into the frame through the hole and have little bendable ear type things that fold out.

The problem is, these "nuts" are aluminum and the bolts they supply are garbage. I have 90,000 miles on my BS and have had the skid plate since new. Most of the bolts have stripped out since they are so low quality and 2 of the little capture nuts have broke the ears off and slid back into the frame.

I just did another oil change and now, another one of these "nuts" stripped out. Trust me, I hand screw them in, but being aluminum, the threads are easily damaged and, again, the bolts are garbage.

My next oil change in a few months I will be installing riv nuts and that was my idea and just found this post to validate the idea I already had. I will take pictures and make a post to show how it's done.
