That’s close enough, my friend.
So this is a Wildpeak turned in (not fully locked). As the photo shows, my thumb squeezed right in. So I’m curious as to how much space would there have been if I went with a 235/70, 245/65?
Aesthetically speaking, I find the 235’s are a nice fit for a non-lifted BS. The 245’s definitely fill out those wheel wells though. I had 245’s on my Cherokee Trailhawk and they looked perfect. Although, the Cherokee is bigger. About 10-11” longer.

Personally, I think the Wildpeak 235’s are perfect. I don’t need the extra 1/4 of lift or the “more aggressive “ look of the 245’s bit that’s just me. For my use case they are perfect.

Obviously Ford can model, analyze and test for all conditions.
I would imagine Ford chose 235/65R 17's as the optional tire size for the First Edition, Badlands and Heritage Limited because they wouldn't rub in any situation a consumer may encounter.
I have not seen Ford offer optional tire sizes for the other BS models, Base, Big Bend, Heritage and Outerbanks.
It's likely anything larger than the 225/65R 17's and the 225/60R 18's could rub as those models do not have the additional factory lift.

Actually that would be a small pinky, about 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch .that is on a first edition badlands. 235/70/17 Goodyear workhorse on 8 months now ,no issues at all
