I recently attended the Texas Bronco Off-Roadeo and wanted to give my take on it.
I live in South Texas so on my way up there, I decided to go through the Texas Hill Country Tour. If you haven't done this, it's a nice drive through some really pretty scenery. I did chicken out when going through a water crossing so I missed out going through Mason. I also got a late start so I stopped in Llano since it was already 9:30p. If you do plan on attending, it may be a neat idea to go through some of these in your BS, especially if you're driving from out of state. If you're flying, it may depend on what you rent.
On to the good stuff... We started at 11am. We visited a while with the other BS owners and our guide. There were just two of us, me and a really nice couple from Tennessee. They drove out here a few days earlier. After we got to know each other, they're BSs and drove out to Llano for lunch. So if you attend, don't eat a big breakfast right before you go.
I had the Alto Blue 2021 Badlands. These were bone stock Badlands with the standard Pirelli Scorpion tires. Our guide mentioned these don't even have bash plates on the bottom.
On the way they covered the different G.O.A.T. modes that are available. On the way back, we went down a portion of the Texas Hill Country Route from Llano to Horseshoe Bay. This took us off pavement and over some more water crossings.
Back to Basecamp, we refilled our water bottles and headed out on to the trail. Our guide, Hollywood, was fantastic. We went through several obstacles. Before each one, Hollywood talked about what we would be doing, the lines we should take, and was our spotter throughout the process. We learned about left foot braking... that's tough to master!
At the end, we went through a small track that took about 4 minutes to complete. Then we met up for supper and live music. After I ate, I bought a few things from their swag store and left. The couple I was with also left about that same time.
I was surprised how many have attended and from where they came from.
Some things I was curious about...

Some things I was curious about...
- They had snacks there if you need to take some with you on the road. For the BS course, I don't think it was necessary since we ate then went back within a couple of hours.
- They have plenty of water if you need to refill a reusable water bottle.
- Lunch was filling, I didn't eat much at dinner, mainly to be nice.
- At their swag store, they have caps, pins, velcro patches, shirts, and Yeti cups. I was looking for some keychains to get people back home but they didn't have any.
- You can use your FordPass points for the swag there. I had quite a bit so that helped me decide on getting a few more items.
- I don't think the added insurance was necessary, especially if you're a decent driver and on the BS course.
- Wear clothes that will keep you cool in the sun. It's in Texas, not the worst part of Texas, but you'll be outside for some time.
