Bought my Bronco Sport back in 2021 and fairly enjoyed driving it. During my first oil change appointment I made a complaint about my tailgate window had developed a small leak. Dealership stated that they couldn't replicate the leak. Well its been 2 years since then and now my mounting brackets have developed corrosion from additional leaking. Now my I am outside of my warranty and apparently my extended warranty doesn't cover it.

Anyone have some insight on GCCT cases with Ford? The approximate cost is $1,350 and I feel like it absolutely insane that I should be paying for this manufacturer and dealership incompetence.

If you reported it prior to your warranty expiration it should still be covered. If you didn't keep the invoice detailing the work done you might get a record from your car's maintenance history stored by Ford. Go to a different dealership and ask them to pull up your service history. If you reported a problem and they performed work that generated an invoice it should exist in the records.

That's exactly what I told them and my dealership is still not wanting to cover it. I got it escalated to be a GCCT case. I am hoping for some resolution out of this.

Hi there! This window leak concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Bronco Sport. Could you please send us a DM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a direct message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

The warranty thing is a gray area. Just because something is reported during the warranty period doesn't automatically mean it will be repaired after the warranty expires. If the dealer investigated and found no issue at the time of the original complaint, that kind of ends it in Ford's eyes. Whenever the customer feels the issue isn't resolved, they need to continue while under warranty to either push the issue or escalate it to a supervisor at the service department for further review.

When you report something, and the dealer finds no issue, and the customer stops reporting the problem then it's considered a closed case. When the warranty ends it will not be covered unless the dealer/Ford approve a good will repair. Corrosion warranty might work when body sheet metal is perforated, but not sure it will cover mounting brackets.

The first week that I had my outer banks I went grocery shopping. Being disabled, I use a handicap cart for the shopping, and have one of the baggers follow me out, load the groceries in my sport, then drive the cart back. As I sat in the cart, I noticed that he had used the wrong button first, and popped open the window. I just wonder if that’s happened in a case where the owner might not realize what’s happened, thus leaving a gap for rainwater.

I had an issue with the little curly defrost wires pushing the window out just enough to break the seal and got a bunch of water In after a carwash. Make sure you make sure those wires aren't pushing out your hatch window.
