So an issue I've had since bringing my BS BL home isn't that SYNC 3 can/cannot find my home wifi, but it won't connect to it. I put in my password over and over and it just won't connect and gives me the message, "Unable to connect to wifi." Any ideas because I really need to be able to install OTA updates without taking my BL in to the dealership anytime it has an update?

Does it see your network and if so, how is the signal strength?

Did you make sure you got the uppercase and lowercase letters right in the password? Also, are you sure about any zero's and O's being entered correctly?

Yes, it finds the network, the network strength is good, and my password is a numeric code, there aren't any numbers.

Are you using your own router or one provided by your internet provider? Are you able to connect new devices without adding the MAC address to the router?

I'm using Fidelity's router they provided. Yes I can connect any other devices at any time. I just connected two new tablets yesterday.

Do you have a friend or family member who would allow you to try to join their network? It may be an issue with the vehicle or it may be your router. You could also call Fidelity for help.

I haven't quite gotten that far yet. I will probably load the update on my external HD this time around and update the BL via USB, then try to get Fidelity to look into it first. I also activated the trial 3gb wifi Hotspot on FordPass but there is nothing on my SYNC 3 about my hotspot either.

I have the same issue. The router is installed in the garage so signal strength isn't the issue. It will connect to my phone when it's in hot spot mode and it even connects to our guest wifi at work, but not the home wifi. I've entered the pw manually and I've tried WPS, no dice.

It sucks brother. I just downloaded the update to a flash drive and installed it manually. Good luck trying to verify the update through the Ford Owner website using the XML file that is supposed to show up though, because it doesn't show up. I just logged the SYNC 3 update on my FordPass App.

I'll add I have had the same problem. Drove my Sport through the yard to the front of the house. Within 20 ft of my router. Nothing. Ended up using a flash drive. Just weird.

I look in on the firmware version in my Bronco every month or two and it has always been updated within a couple of weeks. I don't know if this means that the Bronco checked for updates or actually downloaded one, but it really doesn't matter which.

I park about 40 feet from my router, but the signal has to go through an aluminum garage door and a wall between my garage and a bedroom where the router is.

The firmware on a stick didn’t work for me either. It took several months of trying to force the thing to connect at home as well. One day, as if like magic, it connected, updated, and works fine now.

Of course, this isn’t a problem with it. It is a feature.
