OK. I've been fighting with the car for a few weeks now. Every time it restarts, it loses one or more of several user settings. These include: display background and mode. Navigation preferences and breadcrumb features. Radio station. Preset tabs.

The battery has always been inadequate for the car. The heat has been brutal for the last few weeks which is also brutal on a battery. I spent time charging to see if it resolves. But I've even had the car lose the setting while driving and doing the power/>> system reset. So it doesn't seem to be a battery.

I considered heat or an aging, failing APIM. I tried to do a reinstall of Sync. It did not resolve the issue. In looking around, my version 22251 also has issues with other vehicles.
e.g. https://www.f150forum.com/f118/sync-3-memory-issue-538739/index12/
You'll find the same kinds of topics on Ranger, Explorer and other forums.

I ran the interrogator tool there as suggested and have the same issue.

It seems that eventually the Ford log files clog up the APIM storage. So yeah, getting a new module would fix this. Until it fills up again so that is more of a bandaid and involves giving your car to the stealership for a while. I ran a cleanup utility and got half the space back. It took about an hour of running in and out of the garage and doing Sync updates. That beat going to the dealer for help.

System appears to be functioning properly so far. Time will tell. If it does it again, I will just delete the directory again.

I’m not sure why you want to continue to mess around with Sync 3.4.22251? All of what you are seeing are known issues

Best to upgrade to 23188 and via a USB Device because that works best - highly likely that will resolve the issues you are having

Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 24B47 announced 7/22/2024 to update the APIM at no cost to the owner. Also known as SSM 52704.

This is NOT an Over The Air update.

The CSP lists all of the impacted vehicles including ’21-‘24 Bronco Sports build dates March 13, 2020 through June 5, 2024. The US population of all of the affected vehicles is 383,085.

Ford is aware of the issues owners are having with Sync:
Have you have experienced any issues with your center display? If so this CSP may solve the issues. Issues include:
1. Display intermittently blacks out.

Description: In all the affected vehicles, due to an error in the SYNC software, you may experience SYNC system instability concerns and/or a failure to preserve certain settings across ignition cycles. This may result in a black infotainment screen that does not affect rear view camera, incorrect language setting, erased or unsaved radio presets, and potential inability to perform software updates.

This update takes roughly 30 minutes, but expect a couple hours as this is a software update. I think it’s a configuration change to the APIM (software only update).

I do not know if this CSP is the same as the SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT update. The CSP is not an Over The Air update so likely differs from the 23188 update.

Has anyone gotten this notification from Ford Bronco Sport? We got rid of our 2021 Explorer Platinum and had every Sync 3 issue you could name. I just got notification for the Explorer, but not the BS. Thanks,

I’ve seen a small number of owners on the Facebook Bronco Sport groups stating they received that CSP notification and some have had it completed already.

Also see earlier Post #7 from an owner on this forum that had the CSP done.

It does not appear to be a Sync version update (they reported were on Sync 3.4.23188 before and after the update was performed so no change).

A Ford Tech stated it’s a “configuration” update only whatever that might mean IDK.

My BS has been trying to update the map to NA 23 through wifi for a few weeks now. The last few days when I check the status of the update when in my garage by checking for software updates and the circle that appears while checking for updates just keeps spinning and I just quit by turning off vehicle. My Edge updated the map in about a week or two. Will this software update fix Sync so it can complete the update. At this point I am planning on bringing it into the dealer to check why updates are not downloading anymore but just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and what fixed it.

I never received the notification but had mine updated July 17th. Had an older version of the sync software but do not know which one. I do know that once the previous version was done over wifi I had nothing but issues. It would no longer do updates over wifi, gps would not save destination when stoping for fuel, XM would default back to AM radio to name a few. Had the CPS done no charge when doing recall. Have been unable to get a copy of work order to see what was done for CPS. My dealer was one hit with hack back in July so they could not generate and print work order. Service adviser could see in their system now that the work was done but no info and could not generate copy of work order to email to me. He said check later, just might be systems still have not been updated with all the data they lost during hack. So far sync is back to working like it should.

I am assuming you have Sync 3.4.23188 installed? (I didn’t go back to read your prior posts)

The Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 is a software update to the APIM (APIM runs the Sync software) but we don’t know exactly what 24B47 updates and we don’t know if it applies to your vehicle (maybe not) and don’t know if 24B47 fixes the inability for your vehicle to update to NA 2 23 Maps (over WiFi).

Other owners have stated “NA 2 23 is too large to update over WiFi”. I always update Maps (and Sync version updates) via a USB Device because it’s quick and reliable.

If 24B47 does apply to a vehicle, it has to be updated by the dealership (at the dealership or via the dealership’s mobile service). Best if you ask about 24B47 and ask about getting NA 2 23 next time you are at the dealership.

My Sync is updated with the latest version 3.4.23188. My Edge just updated to map NA 23 in a week or two that is what got me thinking maybe there is a problem with the sync on the BS and maybe affected by the APIM update. I never had an issue with updating the map over wifi on my 19 Edge or 20 Escape and I never had any issues after the update. I have only had an issue with the BS.
I already talked to the dealer today about my issue since my post and he mentioned there has been issues with some of the newer vehicles but he did not recall any download issues with the BS. Either way I am bringing the BS in next week for something else and he will do the 24B47 update and update the map at the same time. Since this is probably the only free update I get with the 24 BS the next update will be via the USB. But if I'm paying for the update I probably will not be updating the map every year.

I received this notice in the mail yesterday. I will call them and see if they want to come get it. My wife is away visiting family and I have her car to use. And BTW they can change the oil and check on that TPMS on the front left wheel that keeps going off and then resets itself.

After reading other post about the inoperable Sync...the last time I tried to update it, like others have posted, just sat there spinning.

Possibly because you currently have Sync 3.4.22251 installed which has known issues including the one you described?

See instructions thomasm23 posted at link below..
I avoided doing the Master Reset bc that can lock up the 8” Display when 22251 is installed and there is insufficient free memory on the APIM (where Sync runs)

a. Perform this type of Sync Reset: Simultaneously press and hold the seek up (seek forward) and the audio unit power buttons for 2 minutes until Sync boots up. Here you hold these buttons down for the 2 minutes - you will know when it’s done because at 2 minutes Sync will boot up and you then release those 2 buttons. Then repeat this procedure.

b. Using your USB Device with the Sync 3.4.23188 update, follow Ford’s instructions to install ..

My question is that if I am not experiencing any issues with Sync, do I still need to have the dealership to this update? Thank you! :)

Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 does not apply to all vehicles but if this CSP shows as applicable to your vehicle I recommend you have it done

Also, Sync 3.4.23188 is currently latest version so you do want to be running 23188 or whatever is latest version available

Thank you for your reply! Yes, my current version is 23188. My Ford Pass App told me about the CSP, so I called the Ford service department. I was told that this was an update I needed to run myself at home, or pay to have them do it. But, I read on your thread that that is not true. If I don't need to take it in, I'd rather not. Knowing what I've told you, do you still recommend me taking it in? I appreciate it!! Janet
