I am not happy with the Falken Wildpeaks on wet road. Recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Terry

According to Tire Rack's customer survey the A/T tires with the best wet weather performance are the Continental Terrain Contact A/T, the Cooper Discovery AT3 4S and the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus. Personally, I would go with the Cooper or Pirelli but you should check their survey results to see which best matches your needs.
You might want to take this as an opportunity to up your tire diameter, with the 245/65/17 seeming to be the no hassle size of choice.

What was your experience that created concern? Highway, off-road...

Do you have the AT3W's or the AT Trail?

I have the AT3W's, driven on the highway in a couple driving rainstorms without issue. No sharp curves and such, pretty much straight line.

I believe these AT tires are meant to excel in off-road/snow conditions. I'm no tire expert but the tread, to me, doesn't look like it pushes water out like a true all season road tire.

Gotta be honest, I got these for the looks and the snow rating. Didn't want my BS to look like it skipped leg day.

I believe 2 (Continental and Pirelli) of those 3 come stock on the BS.

I think you are right on the Continental and wrong on the Pirelli, which i believe is the low rated Pirelli ATR and not the higher rated (5th?) All Terrain Plus.

I'll also note that in TR's 2018 test, of the three I mentioned, in post #2, the Continental was the clear winner in the wet but did poorly in snow, where the Cooper was the best. The Cooper also got 1.1% better mpg than the Continental. I feel the Cooper is the best all around of the 3 and comes in some almost unique sizes the other two don't, a 235/75/16 that's a 29.7" diameter and a 235/70/17 that's a 30.0" diameter. Now those two sizes aren't proven to be a no hassle fit on a Badlands yet, so people may want to stick with their 235/65/17 @ 29.2" or 245/65/17 @ 29.5".

I'd be shocked if the 235/75/16 didn't fit on a stock offset wheel but it would involve buying another set of wheels and the 16x7 Motegi MR143 CS6,+40 and 18.3 lbs are looking good to me! The combination would make for a light 51-52 lb wheel and tire package. Most other combo's are going to be 57-65+.

I have the AT3W's and my big complaint is the hydroplaning in the rain. I am going to buy some OEM wheels and tires and run the AT3W's in the winter.

Mine came with pirellis , they’re a/t but not a/t plus. They have two different ones. The ones that come stock have no snow rating. They are a great street tire I had them on my edge Sport, but they are not good in the snow. I put Toyos on mine.

Hello Chief, when did you purchase the AT3w's & from where? What tire size do you have and the air pressure you run them at?

The tires (235/65R17) and wheels are the optional ones for the Badlands . I am running 33 psi.

Copy that.

In regards to the hydroplaning, at what speed do you experience this at? Is it during standing puddles of water? regular wet roads?

55-60 mph on the freeway where there is some puddles or on a two lane highway when it is raining hard that would not phase my 2019 Ranger Lariat FX4 with Hankook Dynapro ATM's.

I’d love to see a picture of those if you feel like posting some. I was considering those tires. I went with the Toyo open country a/t IIIs though.

I had the tires sent to a secondary residence, so I don't have them with me now but I'll take some before and after pics this weekend.
