man, there isn't another Ford dealer around?

it was that bad?
Yes, twice. I was foolish enough to trust a Ford mediator to get involved and asked me to go back and talk with the sales manager...I went back, he was supposedly sick, so I was assigned to a young sales trainee who did not know what was going on. The deal that was presented to me quickly changed to another Bronco that I did not want.

I left promptly

Ford dealerships I believe are independent franchises. When I was looking for my Bronco, the first place I went, who gave me a long test drive, didn't get back to me with a price and availability, so I looked around, next on was a big bull pen full of salesman, not my style. I found what I wanted in Boise, ID at a good price, was about to fly out when I went to the dealer my wife bought her 2006 Focus. Talked to a salesman, showed him what I got from the Boise dealer, he found one locally, talked with his sales manager, and came within a couple hundred dollars.

I have found this every time I have looked for a car, it is tougher to shop for a dealer than it is for the car, as they are independent.

The best story I have on this, and not my own, was a friend many years ago looking for a Mazda 626, when the dealers first started with the "added dealer second sticker" thing. Salesman asked him what he thought the car was worth, his reply was "Not sure but THIS is what Mazda thinks..." Salesman didn't want to talk any more.

yeah, with so many online sites to shop for cars and my experience in buying so many cars over the years I have found the best way to buy car is.

Go to forums of the car you want to get...get tons of info from forums
from common issues to look for and the best dealers/prices around

Build your own on the manufacturing sites like Ford.com etc is the best way to do it when buying new.

Or save tons of money shopping used vehicles

Find what you want online...usually use at least a 100 mile radius or even nationwide for certain cars. I personally use a 500 mile range most times

Get best rates form various credit unions or banks.
Lock in a good rate to use if needed.

Call dealer and get their best bottom line price

Negotiate if possible

Get walk around video and extra pics sent to your phone via text

Get a copy of the invoice/contract of the OTD price sent via text or email and lock in a deal.

Then go see the dealer and see the car.

Can be out of the dealership in less than an hour with a good pregame plan

I definitely wouldn't stop shopping due to a bad experience at one dealership.

The hunt and deal making is half the fun.
