For those of you that replaced the splash guard under the engine with a skid plate , what did you go with ?
I was thinking about the Revel aluminum one. I've been driving some rough roads, and the plastic oil pan and plug don't inspire confidence.
Changing the plastic pan out for a metal one will cut down on the available brands, I saw where the Revel wouldn't work with an aftermarket pan.

But the skid plate would protect more than just the oil pan.
What one do you like and why ?

First of all, I have a Badlands, so take that into consideration as the options may be different for the 1.5L.

I went with the JCR engine skid with access door for oil/filter changes, and then added an HRG bash plate, which coincidentally covers up the access door on the JCR engine skid!

For those with the 2.0L, to make the access door work on the JCR engine skid, you really need to add one of the Fumoto valves, or when you pull the drain plug, most of the drain oil will likely end up on top of the engine skid. If you add the Fumoto valve, make sure also you order the extension or it won't thread into the oil pan due to the shape of the pan.

Once the Fumoto valve is installed, you can add a short piece of tubing and direct the drain oil into your pan.

I contemplated cutting a square out of the HRG bash plate to access the panel in the JCR engine skid, but decided it was only four bolts to remove the bash plate. So, I just left bash plate alone and left the access door on the JCR off. Either way, I have to remove four bolts to change the oil and I have better protection with the bash plate in its unmodified state.
