I took Bronco Sport through a touchless car wash and filled up gas tank (using 87 fuel). When I pulled into garage the Service warning symbol came on (the symbol is a wrench).

I looked up this symbol in manual and it said it is an issue with the 4WD/AWD system.

Has anyone had this issue? How can I have an issue with the 4WD system after 278 miles.

Yeah. I will call dealership tomorrow. Hopefully the warning light will be off by tomorrow morning.

When I did my first oil change, I put dielectric grease on every connector I could get to.

This is what the dealer did the first time the wrench came on in the explorer. The 2nd time it happened they basically told me if you shut the car off and it goes away, there’s nothing really they can do. I already know they can check the code, but I haven’t worried about it furtheR as it hasn’t happened again. I hope your fix is as easy as shutting it off & turning it back on to find the wrench gone.

I went back out to car to check to see if there was any change. The wrench came back on. Then I toggled through the gears and suddenly warning went away. Turned car off and restarted to check and the wrench light was no longer on.

I will still call service department tomorrow and let them know what happened and see if they should still look at car.

Obviously like the other poster said...something got wet that wasn't supposed to get wet.

I called dealer this morning and was told if it happens again then bring the car into service.

Good luck with it! I hope it doesn’t do it again for you. It seems odd to me that the vehicle doesn’t hold a code that they can read & diagnose, and I believe it does actually.
In the end, perhaps because it’s a vehicle I’m not keeping, I figure as long as s I’ve phoned & documented it, should this turn out to be some major warranty argument later, I can’t say I didn’t try to follow up with things.

Be careful. You should never do this because it makes diagnosing which connector a pain if its warrantable. Technically since you disconnected it and reconnected it a dealer can say issue was caused by customer abuse and does not have to warranty an item. So if the connector was bad there's no way of knowing if water caused issue or you disconnected it caused the issue.

Hi there, Jennifer! Go ahead and send us a private message with your VIN and your dealer information, I’d be happy to look into this for you. Thanks!
