I'm trying to remember where I saw this (maybe in another thread?), but I saw somebody suggesting using eco mode in the snow with the traction control off. I'm paraphrasing, but I think they said it would allow for more wheel spin, but not so much that loses it's usefulness, because the revs are artificially lower due to the eco mode.
Seem to recall reading a Bronco sport owner posting using Eco mode in icey/snow condition Believe they were commenting on the less throttle response.
(As does slippery goat mode.)

Not certain about traction control on or off

Traction control prevents wheelspin by applying brakes, so turning it off allows for more wheel spin. More wheel spin can be beneficial in deep snow, but it's usually not that helpful on ice.

We probably watched the same video or read the same post.

yup, deep snow = sand mode and turn the tc off. in some situations traction control is a hinderance. even climbing up a somewhat steep hill in the rocky mountains this past summer, sand mode with tc off. very light on the throttle and no issues.

Sorry for the dumb question as I haven’t owned a vehicle with any traction control modes and until my minivan all my cars had been front wheel drive manuals.

why can’t you switch it manual mode and use the paddles to keep the revs high where you need them?

Tested it again tonight and it's not revving on it's own. I think I was misunderstanding that it was shifting itself to lower gears that made it feel like that way. Thanks all!
That's good that you responded to this figuring it out

Yes I understand that.

You missed I was commenting regarding another person's post and they did not detail whether or not they were using traction control or not while in eco mode .

No, I didn't miss it. I was just offering more detail. Sorry for the confusion.
