Early BS's came with the engine cover, so I'd ask your service rep if they would charge you to pop off the cover, as it literally snaps on in all 4 corners.

If they charge for that 5 second removal procedure, then I'd be really surprised.

Thanks to the video that Mark S. posted the battery has to be removed. In that case I 'll take the strut tower brace and the engine cover both off. Ten minute job at most.
