The front airbag warning light came on after approximately 100 miles. I took it back to the dealer and got it back again after two days. They said there was a short under the center storage container. Two days later the light just came on again. I called the dealer service department and they said they have no idea what the problem is but they will contact Ford Engineering on Monday for some help. I'm going on a trip this weekend and I'm a little nervous about driving the car but they assured me air bags are working properly and the car is safe to drive. Has anybody else had this same problem? Very disappointing being as it only has 300 miles on it.

Looks like you're dealing with the infamous Restraint Control Module (RCM) , the little box that all the Bronco Sports sitting in the desert are missing. That module monitors the readiness of the airbags, seat occupancy sensors, seat belt fastened switches and a bunch of other things. Could be as simple as a loose connector on one of the switches or as bad as an intermittent module. I would worry so much about the airbags not going off but the airbags going off for no particular reason. Good luck.

That’s what I’m worrying about that the air bags fire off randomly.

We have had it back to the dealer twice since this original post. They say they are not able to duplicate the problem and don't have any idea what it is. They now seem to be leaning towards it being our imagination. The light goes on in the dash display and the warning is sent to the Ford app on my phone when it happens. We have had the car for three weeks and it has been at the dealer for one. I mentioned the RCM module and was basically ignored. They now want to keep the car and drive it home at night to try and duplicate the issue. I'm not comfortable with this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe you can take a picture of the light when it comes on or you can take a screenshot on your phone when it notifies you via Ford app. Then you can show them.

We have done that twice.
Dealer just reported that there was an improperly crimped wire in the connector under the passenger seat going to the sensor. it would intermittently make contact. They fixed connector and drove for twenty mile with a passenger without a problem. Hopefully it is fixed.

Anytime things like this happen now I take a picture or a short video so I have something to show the dealer.

You would think any trouble issue with SRS it would be logged in as a trouble code .
