While looking at accessories on the Ford website, it said that remote start could be activated on my 2022 Big Bend without adding the convenience package. The website stated that remote start could be activated if the active security package was installed. Has anyone done this?

Give this a read.

It's been a while since I read that thread and I'm too lazy to reread it, but if memory serves it talked about the Perimeter Plus alarm system that adds remote start.

You should be able to remote start it with the fordpass app (I believe it is available even with the base model). Have you installed that on your phone and set it up?

I know I can use FordPass for remote start, but I want to be able to remote start with the key fob. FordPass is also kinda klunky to use for this.

I have the upgraded security system (Ford Perimeter Plus). Figured it was a no brainer after the cat was stolen on my Jeep and cost me $700 to replace. I've had it about 2 weeks. No issues or complaints so far. The sensitivity is adjustable, but they did not show me how to do it at the shop. Though it seems to be set ok for my needs. The garbage truck did set it off once, but other than that there have been no false alarms.

There's no additional fob or new fob or anything like that. Pretty much nothing changes except that you can now remote start it with your existing fob, and the alarm will go off if anyone screws around.

To remote start the vehicle, you just press Lock, Unlock, Lock and she fires right up - provided you are within range of the fob of course. I like that I can start it if I don't have my phone handy and hopefully it keeps anyone from messing with the vehicle. Would buy again.
