Finally getting around to posting this.
It took over 8 months of back-and-forth between 2 dealers and at last, last week we got the grinding RDU replaced. I asked the rep. if we had also gotten the updated vent hose and they stated that we got the latest and greatest of everything, so yeah, sure. Ok, I'll take your word. Get home and I find that it's easy to check the hose, so I did. OLD hose still there. I slide under the BS to look and make sure we actually got the new RDU and discovered that, evidently, the install tech had, looks like, torn the driver's inboard axle joint boot and it had puked its grease ALL OVER THE PLACE. Since the hackers were kind enough to basically shut Ford's service down, we are still waiting on word for a loaner, updated vent hose and new axle. And the BS sits.

If you get a new RDU, make sure you check their work.

Thats messed up. I had the exact work done in May. Thankfully everything worked out, even the rental. All free of charge. Integrity is a hit and miss now days, you want to believe what you are told but life expieriences tells you to always check. Good luck getting the job done.

Hello, James. This isn't something we want you to experience. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you with this RDU concern.

At this point I'll try anything. BS sitting over a week and no help yet from the dealer.

BS finally back at dealer and OWNEROFBS got a 2024 BSBB as a loaner. So, fingers crossed, they get it right this time. We shall see...

BS back home. They DID replace the axle, they DID replace the RDU vent hose with the upgraded version and they DID use sealer for a required drilled hole to insert the riv-stud into, to attach the hose clamp eyelet onto. They DID NOT clean up/off the slung grease. I guess we can call it a win at this point and pray for no more gremlins to pop up.

I have just now run into this issue. RDU was rebuilt at end of September, had to bring it back for a loose grd cable throwing the check charging system a few weeks later.

Brought it back today because drivers rear inner is throwing grease all over.

They had the gall to tell me they don't have anyone to even look at it for at least 20 days. They told me to bring it to another dealer in hopes they have someone to look at it. This the dealer who should it to us new. ~45K miles right now. Waiting for the service advisor who has handled it before, who was out today. Beyond frustrating that they are now going to pull this.

Doesn't Ford have a replacement boot?
