Out and About Guam

Took a little diversion today to a few of my favorite places. Asan Bay is where the USA landed in July '44, directly below Asan Heights, which was a Japanese stronghold. The Japanese Army executed an unsuccessful banzai charge down the hill to Asan Bay the next morning. 1500 + of our troops made the ultimate sacrifice in liberating the island. Lest we forget.

Great pictures. I’ve been to Guam twice, most recently in 2016. Fabulous island with a lot of history.

This is my second time on island. I lived here '12-'16, returned to 'Vegas until last year and just passed my first anniversary back on island. Having a blast. I'm appreciating Guam and the whole Pacific region in general more so than last time. Particularly the WWII history. I'm waiting for the quarantines to lift so I can explore Saipan and Tinian, which are only a stones throw away.
